Position Summary: The incumbent will be responsible for optimizing the national HVAC plant operation. The incumbent will remotely control the heating curve to provide customers with appropriate comfort levels, within a cost efficient framework. The incumbent will implement a study to lower gas consumption and cost throughout the portfolio.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control Building Automation Systems (BAS) in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) to provide customers with appropriate comfort within a cost-effective adjustment.
  • Routinely monitor BAS alarms; diagnose, identify and report relevant mechanical or control issues in a timely manner.
  • Repair/replace/calibrate control devices with regard to control system operation and monitoring.
  • Identify of building mechanical issues impacting energy consumption; analysis of heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting systems to determine optimum operating conditions.
  • Work within project schedule and work package received from supervisor and/or project manager and maintain regular communication on the status and execution of the projects assigned.
  • Guide and liaise with electrical, other contractors/sub-contractors at job site (where necessary) to ensure site operations are fully coordinated.
  • Develop and manage system for tracking energy performance measures to support continuous improvement in energy management and conservation; Prepare energy forecasts and report on budgets, energy consumption and conservation.
  • Strategic planning in conjunction with development, implementation and leadership of Energy Needs Assessment and Energy Management Plans; Seeking out and management of alternative funding sources for energy conservation.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

 

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of building HVAC systems operation and control
  • Knowledge and experience in BAS monitoring, programming, and/or installation preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Strong understanding of the processes and procedures of building mechanic systems, and of relevant standards and building codes pertaining to automation
  • Proven diagnostic skills, ability to identify and resolve technical problems
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Programming experience; knowledge of network applications
  • Valid G driver's licence and reliable vehicle required
