As a VAD Program Manager, a caregiver in this role will develop and implement performance improvement plans and processes for inpatient and outpatient ventricular assist device (VAD) programs. The caregiver will coordinate efforts across a multidisciplinary team and oversee VAD training, education, quality improvement and accreditation readiness. This role will support the continued Joint Commission certification of the VAD programs at Main Campus and Weston, ensuring required quality and operational processes are maintained to support VAD placement and ongoing program standards.

A caregiver in this position will work 7:30am to 4:30pm with no weekends, holidays or on-call requirements. The main location will be held at CC Main Campus with CC Florida Weston requirements 1-2 times per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Maintains limited VAD patient care schedule to ensure familiarity with current state and to identify potential performance improvement opportunities in processes, team design, documentation standards, and equipment utilization.
  • Coordinates multidisciplinary team meetings, prepares and maintains documentation, facilitates teams by using appropriate performance improvement methodology.
  • Takes responsibility for coordination of the two yearly Joint Commission VAD Program site visit preparations, ensuring the multidisciplinary team is aware of and prepared for their elements of the inspection.
  • Responsibilities include development and maintenance of ongoing process and quality improvement program.
  • Administrative knowledge of Joint Commission VAD-specific certification and related regulatory agency standards.
  • Educates and/or organizes educational activities for continuum of care providers (Staff, nursing, APRN’s, Residents, etc.) in conjunction with the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) team to keep current with regulatory recommendations and updated standards of care.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the program’s VAD-Transplant quality and research database and how to utilize the data to drive quality.
  • Collect, collate, interpret and present data on performance measures with the multidisciplinary team to inform and guide future program development and initiatives.
  • Responsible for ensuring VAD resource binders for patients, families and caregivers are updated.
  • Ensures maintenance of MCS Manual annually.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • BSN
  • English
  • Current State Licensures as a registered nurse (Ohio and Florida)
  • Three years demonstrated knowledge and experience in advanced heart failure therapies
  • Experience managing patients with ventricular assist devices (VADs)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, MBA or Health Care Administration
  • Process improvement, quality improvement or regulatory compliance experience

Requirements:

  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system and to US-based locations as needed.
  • Ability to serve as a consultant to international markets, which may require early or late meetings hours on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to walk throughout Main and Weston campus locations to interface with VAD caregivers.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to hold and display clinical equipment for demonstration & training purposes.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
