Job Description:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving quality excellence across Fluence's energy storage solutions throughout the product lifecycle, from design and product development through commissioning, operations, warranty, and sustaining support.
Working closely with global cross-functional teams, this role leads quality investigations, resolves non-conformances, drives corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and supports product readiness, continuous improvement, and risk-based decision-making to ensure safe, reliable, and high-performing products.
Responsibilities
Lead the investigation, prioritisation, and resolution of quality issues, driving effective CAPAs and reducing recurring failures.
Manage non-conformances, quality intake systems, and quality backlogs while improving quality processes and reporting.
Analyse quality data (NCRs, CAPAs, JIRAs and other quality records) to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Maintain quality documentation, inspection records, test reports, and compliance-related documentation.
Support testing, validation, commissioning, and operational readiness activities for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Partner with Product Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Project teams to support product launches and lifecycle quality management.
Drive data-led quality improvements through analytics, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
5-12 years' experience in Quality, Engineering, or Operations within manufacturing, renewable energy, or a related industry.
Experience managing non-conformances and leading issue resolution across cross-functional or global teams.
Knowledge in at least two of the following areas:
Batteries
Software & Controls
Inverters
Transformers
Electrical Systems
Mechanical Systems
Civil & Structural Systems
Experience developing quality systems, risk management frameworks, and continuous improvement programs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Experience supporting product launches, product readiness reviews, and lifecycle quality management.
Understanding of change control, validation, compliance, and risk mitigation processes.
Experience within large-scale renewable energy projects (100MW+) or similarly complex infrastructure environments is advantageous.
Ability to travel 30-50% across APAC to support supplier engagements and Fluence sites.
Additional Requirements
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate and influence across global teams.
Experience supporting customer-facing projects and working across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations functions.
Knowledge of supplier quality and supply chain quality processes.
Commercial awareness and the ability to interpret contractual obligations and business impacts.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organisational skills.
Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
