Description
Greenbelt Academy and Early Learning Centre
Nature-based early learning | Supply/as needed | $20- $21 per hour
About Greenbelt Academy
Greenbelt Academy is Niagara’s forest school, providing education rooted in nature for children from preschool through kindergarten. We combine academics with the benefits of nature through a balanced, child-centred approach to learning.
Children are given daily opportunities to spend extended time outdoors, explore their interests and learn through hands-on experiences. Our educators facilitate an emergent curriculum that supports the whole child by combining play-based learning, nature immersion, appropriate risky play, emotional development and meaningful connections to the community and natural world.
About the Role
Greenbelt Academy is looking for caring, dependable and flexible Supply Staff to support our nature-based early-learning programs as needed.
Working alongside our educators, you will help create a safe, welcoming and child-centred environment where children can learn through play, outdoor exploration, hands-on experiences and time in nature. You will respond to the individual needs and interests of each child while supporting Greenbelt Academy’s nature-based philosophy and emergent curriculum.

What You’ll Bring
- Current membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators or the Ontario College of Teachers.
- Experience working with children using developmentally appropriate teaching and behaviour-guidance practices.
- A caring, responsive and reliable approach to working with children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfort working outdoors with children in a variety of weather conditions.
- Familiarity with Forest and Nature School in Canada: A Head, Heart, Hands Approach to Outdoor Learning and How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- A valid vulnerable sector check completed within the past six months.
- Up-to-date immunization records.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in a forest school, nature-based early-learning or outdoor education environment.
- Current membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators or the Ontario College of Teachers.
