DATA GOVERNANCE SPECIALIST

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Specialist to establish and manage data governance frameworks, processes, and operating models. The role will ensure data is properly owned, classified, governed, protected, and maintained across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes.
• Establish data ownership and stewardship models across business and technology teams.
• Define data classification, quality, metadata, and data lineage standards.
• Establish processes for data access, sharing, retention, and lifecycle management.
• Support data privacy, security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Define and monitor data quality rules, controls, and KPIs.
• Develop and maintain data governance operating models, roles, responsibilities, and workflows.
• Collaborate with Data Architects, Business Analysts, IT, Security, Risk, and Compliance teams.
• Identify data governance gaps and recommend improvements.
• Support implementation and adoption of enterprise data governance and cataloguing tools.
• Conduct governance workshops and promote data governance awareness across the organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or a related field.
• Strong experience with data ownership, stewardship, classification, quality, and lineage.
• Good understanding of data privacy, security, access, sharing, and retention.
• Experience developing data governance frameworks and operating models.
• Familiarity with data governance standards, policies, and best practices.
• Experience with data cataloguing, metadata, and lineage tools is preferred.
• Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
