We are seeking an experienced Project Surveyor to provide surveying and geomatics support for the Thames Water Coppermills Resilience Project.Working within the Technical Office team, you will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and validating survey information throughout the project lifecycle, from design development and pre-construction through construction, commissioning, and final handover. Working closely with Engineering, Construction, BIM, Temporary Works, and Asset Protection teams, you will ensure survey data is accurate, reliable, and effectively supports project delivery.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
As Project Surveyor, you will:
Plan and coordinate engineering survey activities across the project.
Manage specialist survey subcontractors delivering topographical, utility, monitoring, setting-out, and as-built surveys.
Define survey scopes, technical requirements, and deliverables for survey providers.
Review, validate, and approve survey information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards.
Establish and maintain project survey control networks, coordinate systems, and survey procedures.
Coordinate survey requirements with Engineering, Construction, BIM, Temporary Works, and Asset Protection teams.
Identify and resolve discrepancies between design information and site conditions.
Support construction teams with setting-out verification, dimensional control, and tolerance checks.
Coordinate monitoring surveys and asset protection activities where required.
Ensure accurate production of as-built survey information to support project handover and asset information requirements.
Integrate survey data into BIM models, CAD drawings, GIS platforms, and project databases.
Monitor survey subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with project specifications, Thames Water requirements, and industry best practice.
Support digital engineering and information management processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills and Competencies
Essential Requirements
Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven experience delivering engineering surveys on infrastructure, utilities, construction, or major projects.
Experience with topographical, setting-out, and as-built surveys.
Proficiency with Total Stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, and modern digital survey technologies.
Experience with processing survey data and producing high-quality survey deliverables.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BIM models, and technical specifications.
Strong understanding of survey control networks and coordinate systems.
Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The following would be advantageous:
Experience working on water, utility, rail, highways, or major infrastructure projects.
Experience using Leica, Trimble, or Topcon survey equipment.
Knowledge of laser scanning and point cloud processing.
Experience with drone/UAV surveys.
Experience with utility mapping and PAS 128 surveys.
Experience working with BIM, Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and GIS platforms.
Thames Water Passport.
EUSR National Water Hygiene Card (Blue Card).
