ABOUT MERCY STREET
Mercy Street is a faith-based nonprofit committed to mentoring, developing, and empowering youth in West and South Dallas. Our programs focus on spiritual development, academic success, leadership, and life skills that equip students for meaningful lives rooted in purpose and service.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Mercy Street After-School & Summer Camp programs provide a safe, structured, and enriching environment for K–5 students during after-school and summer time hours. The programs offer academic support, social-emotional learning, faith-based mentorship, and recreational activities.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of After-School and Summer Camp provides strategic and operational leadership for high-quality out-of-school-time programming. The director ensures that programs are safe, mission-aligned, adequately staffed, financially responsible, and effective in producing desired outcomes for children, youth, and families.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the vision, strategy, and annual plan for After-School and Summer Camp programming.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable licensing, grant, insurance, and organizational requirements.
- Develop high-quality academic, enrichment, discipleship, recreation, and family-engagement programming.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate After-School and Summer Camp staff and program leaders.
- Maintain appropriate staffing ratios, safety procedures, and participant-supervision practices.
- Oversee enrollment, attendance, behavior support, transportation, meals, and program schedules.
- Establish program outcomes and monitor performance data.
- Develop and manage the After-School and Summer Camp budget.
- Build relationships with schools, churches, families, and community partners.
- Collaborate with Advancement on grants, reports, site visits, and impact stories.
- Lead continuous improvement and future program expansion.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Five or more years of youth-program experience, including supervisory responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience with program quality, budgets, compliance, and staff development.
- Strong leadership and family-engagement skills.
- Alignment with the ministry’s Christian mission and statement of faith
- Licensed Program or Site Director through the State of Texas
- Current CPR and BLS certified

The After School Program Director is first and foremost a Minister of the Gospel. This position furthers Mercy Street’s religious mission by:

- Being willing and able to explain the message of the Gospel to kids and families of Mercy Street.
- Ability and willingness to disciple kids and families of Mercy Street in a manner consistent with the Bible.

- Being ready, willing, and able to contribute to distinctly Christian activities (including, but not limited to, worship or staff chapel) as an actively engaged Mercy Street staff member
