Electrical Project Manager – Multi-Family Construction

Our client, a growing electrical contractor in the Columbus area, is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join its team. This individual will oversee electrical projects within the multi-family construction market from preconstruction through project completion.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in electrical construction, project management, scheduling, budgeting, field coordination, and customer relations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on project leader who can manage multiple priorities while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage electrical construction projects from initial planning through closeout.
• Review project estimates, contracts, drawings, specifications, and scope of work to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, including manpower needs, material requirements, sequencing, and look-ahead planning.
• Coordinate project activities with field supervision, subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and other trades.
• Attend job site meetings and provide regular updates regarding project progress, schedules, challenges, and upcoming needs.
• Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and other project documentation.
• Review electrical and related trade submittals, including equipment, lighting, fire alarm, HVAC coordination, and other project components.
• Prepare pricing and cost estimates for changes in scope and additional work.
• Monitor project financial performance by reviewing job costs, labor productivity, purchase orders, project history, and forecasts.
• Prepare monthly billings based on project progress and associated costs.
• Provide accurate labor and cost projections throughout the life of each project.
• Utilize 2D drawings and Bluebeam to assist with layouts, material planning, project coordination, and BIM-related activities.
• Coordinate material and equipment deliveries to support project schedules and field productivity.
• Conduct routine site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, code compliance, and adherence to project specifications.
• Ensure projects comply with OSHA requirements, applicable electrical codes, company policies, and contractual obligations.
• Work closely with Operations Management and field leadership to identify and resolve project challenges.
• Manage subcontractor performance and ensure work is completed according to contract requirements.
• Maintain awareness of national, state, and local electrical codes and applicable amendments.
• Assist with project closeout activities, including punch lists, record drawings, final documentation, and turnover requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, field personnel, management, and project partners.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members while supporting their professional growth and development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in the electrical industry required.
• 8+ years of supervisory or leadership experience required.
• 5+ years of project management experience required; construction experience strongly preferred.
• Previous experience managing multi-family electrical construction projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, project scheduling, budgeting, labor forecasting, and job cost management.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and other construction documents.
• Experience with Bluebeam and project management software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable national, state, and local electrical codes.
