What is the opportunity?
As RBC continues to grow and innovate, the size and complexity of our security solutions are on the rise. In parallel, increased diligence is required for RBC to ensure we operate our security controls are operating as expected at all times. Our Network Security and Endpoint Security operations teams are facing greater pressure adapt to the changing landscape, execute security controls faster and measure the effectiveness of security controls on a continuous basis. With new threats emerging and the need to move at a faster pace being more prevalent, the Principal Engineer, Cyber Technology Operations SRE (will ensure that security technologies, services and controls are streamlined, scalable and always up to date. You will collaborate with leading talent across a multitude of Security technologies, which will give you a unique experience of being on the bleeding edge of cyber security while helping to streamline our existing footprint and technologies. What will you do?
- Develop operational SRE strategy, along with maintaining and managing the operational automation roadmap
- Responsible for developing automation solutions
- Partner with technology owners and SMEs to review, optimize and uplift operational procedures in preparation for automated solutions
- Participate in new technology deployments with a focus on defining and building automation to operationalize new solutions
- Partner with technology owners and SMEs on control testing and audits to demonstrate operational effectiveness
- Consult with risk leads to ensure all operational solutions are designed with risk and controls in mind
- Develop KPI's for operational oversight to demonstrate operational effectiveness
- Work in an Agile environment using Jira to manage tasks and meet deadlines
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 10+ years of experience with information security, software engineering, SRE, DevOps, and infrastructure
- 5+ years with focused on SRE or reliability-focused work
- 3-5 years of experience managing technology compliance and risk
- Experience with Endpoint Security, Network Security, Cloud Security technologies
- Working knowledge of Machine Learning/AI Frameworks
- Cloud - Deep hands-on experience with public/private cloud (networking, compute, storage, IAM, event-driven services)
- Containerization & Orchestration - expert-level Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and multi-cluster management
- CI/CD & Automation- extensive experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge in building highly scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant processes
- Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Nice-to-have:
- One or more of the following: CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, Lean Six Sigma, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect
- Proven experience interacting with Regulators, Internal and External Auditors.
- Experience operating in regulated industries (financial services) with familiarity of compliance and security constraints for AI infrastructure
- Hands-on experience implementing AI security controls including prompt injection mitigation, output filtering, and PII detection
- Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and responsible AI engineering practices including model audit logging and fairness monitoring
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction at organizational level through architecture reviews and cross-functional stakeholder engagement
- Contributions to open-source AI/platform engineering projects, technical publications, or conference presentations at recognized forums
