Inventory Specialist
Position Summary
Receives, stores, maintains, and distributes materials and equipment in accordance with departmental policies to meet facility needs.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintains accurate locations of supplies stored throughout the hospital and clinic.
- Works with Department Heads to maintain proper PAR levels for supplies throughout the hospital and clinic.
- Timely completion of Weekly Inventory Report to be reviewed with Materials Management Department Head.
- Quarterly PAR reviews with Department Heads.
- Conducts cycle counts in Central Supply.
- Monitors supply expiration dates for locations stocked by Materials Management.
- Fills requests for supplies and distributes to appropriate locations.
- Corrects all HOLD transactions in Transaction Audit Browser.
- Monitors Charge Viewer to ensure proper charging of supplies.
- Restock supplies throughout the hospital according to assigned PAR levels.
- Accepts incoming freight and delivers to appropriate locations.
- Assists with supply check-in at the time of delivery and verifies against purchase orders.
- Helps compile annual inventory counts.
- Maintains knowledge of supplies, equipment, and chemicals used in department, personal protective equipment, and standard precautions.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients, department and hospital.
- Works effectively as a team member within the facility to provide quality service to hospital departments through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
- Develops and participates in departmental CQI.
- Has a clear understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) regulations and follows facility and department policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Attends scheduled in-services that pertain to the hospital as a whole or to the Materials Management Department.
- Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the Materials Management Department.
- Performs other related duties as needed in order to support the achievement of department goals and objectives.
- Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
- Submits and resolves Service Records with Cerner related to primary responsibilities.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and uncluttered area through orderly storage of supplies to protect personnel and hospital assets
Minimum Qualifications
- A basic knowledge of reading, writing, and math is required in order to give and follow written and oral instructions and perform job duties. This is normally acquired through the completion of a High School education or equivalent.
- Storeroom/receiving experience preferred.
- Data entry experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
