Description
A leading ICI electrical contractor is looking to add an experienced and dependable Electrical Purchaser / Procurement Specialist to its North York team. This is a hybrid opportunity with a well-established contractor known for delivering high-quality retrofit and tenant improvement projects across the GTA.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on purchasing or procurement experience with a local electrical contractor or electrical supplier and understand the day-to-day processes involved in sourcing materials, managing vendor relationships, and supporting project teams. Experience within the Ontario electrical contracting industry is essential.

The Role:
As the Electrical Purchaser, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials and equipment for active construction projects. Working closely with project managers, site personnel, suppliers, and distributors, you'll ensure materials are ordered accurately and delivered on time to keep projects running smoothly.
Knowledge & Skills:
-Extensive knowledge of electrical material
-Completion of post-secondary education
- 3-5 years of experience within a procurement department in an electrical setting
-Knowledge of purchasing principles, techniques, practices and ethics
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
-Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral
-Solid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new products
Key Responsibilities:
-Receive and review material request forms from various construction sites.
-Review warehouse inventory for stock and prepare for shipment to site
- Prepare purchase orders and send to appropriate suppliers as directed by the Purchasing Manager.
-Maintain an open communication between field personnel and suppliers regarding backorders, delivery dates and/or substitute product.
-Receive packing slips from various sites and match to purchase orders and follow up on backorders if necessary.
- Co-ordinate paperwork with accounts payable personnel.
-Researching materials for price and quality
-Providing pricing for estimates and assisting with closing estimates
-Coordinating delivery and expedition of goods, ensuring goods are ordered and delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner
-Locating new sources of supply as required
-Selecting vendors, placing orders, maintaining records
-Establishing and maintaining contact with suppliers
-Meeting with manufacturing representatives to keep current on new products and their uses
-Contacting clients and suppliers to resolve issues as required
-Preparing routine and special reports as required
-Training or directing the work of purchasing clerks or assistants.
