Job Summary
The individual in this position will be responsible for contributing strategically to the achievement of near-term sales goals while positioning the organization for profitable long-term growth. This position requires a proven track record in sales, customer service, and marketing; the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities across a geographically dispersed territory; and an understanding of the veterinary and veterinary diagnostics marketplace. Success in this role requires independent territory ownership, sound business judgment, continuous learning, and thorough preparation for customer and business engagements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Cultivate existing and prospective customers to maximize sales, strengthen brand presence, and increase market share.
- Develop and manage customer accounts, sales plans, forecasts, budgets, CRM activities, and sales opportunities.
- Vigorously advocate for and defend customer interests.
- Support efforts to gain access to product markets through engagement with customers and industry stakeholders.
- Work with VMRD staff to facilitate product fulfillment.
- Champion the product portfolio through continuous product knowledge development and effective customer application.
- Maintain the customer value management process, including sales targets, forecasts, market potential, and actual sales models.
- Contribute to and execute marketing and promotional programs.
- Provide product division forecasts to VMRD management, as needed.
- Contribute to the new product development process by conducting and documenting market research and competitive intelligence to understand evolving industry trends, customer needs, the competitive landscape, and regulatory developments.
- Contribute to pricing processes by maintaining competitive pricing information and guidelines.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, technical, and operations personnel. Serve as a results-oriented team player who leads by example and effectively utilizes internal resources.
- Collaborate positively with cross-functional "breakout" teams, as needed, to achieve the organization's strategic priorities, and provide leadership and training to others when appropriate.
- Perform other responsibilities, projects, and duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Five or more years of related experience in sales, marketing, business management, and customer service with a demonstrated record of success, preferably managing a multi-state sales territory.
- Resourceful, curious, and innovative in addressing complex business challenges.
Education, Licenses, and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, animal science, business, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 40% as needed to visit customers and prospects and attend domestic and international trade shows.
Base Pay Range:
- Between $80,000 and $120,000 annually. This sales position has a commission plan based on targets. Our base pay ranges are determined by job responsibility and regional benchmarks.
