JOB TITLE: Marketing and Creative Content Intern
PAY RATE: $20.00/hour
REPORTS TO: Director of Health & Fitness Center
Shifts: Flexible; 20 hours per week hours a week during hours of operation M-Fr 8am-5pm
LOCATION(S): 375 Selby Ave, St Paul, MN 55102 On-site with occasional opportunities for remote content creation
Position Summary
The Health & Fitness Center Content Creator Work-Study Student will develop and manage dedicated digital and print communications exclusively for the Health & Fitness Center's programs, services, events, and member experiences. This includes managing the HFC's dedicated social media channels, creating engaging content for HFC members, and supporting the HFC Director with promotional materials and marketing campaigns. This internship provides hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, photography, branding, and community engagement while supporting the HFC's goal of building a welcoming, health-focused member community.
Scope of Responsibility
This role is exclusively responsible for Health & Fitness Center marketing and social media communications. The following are managed separately by the MarComs Manager and are NOT part of this position:
- Organization-wide communications and social media for YWCA St. Paul
- Main YWCA St. Paul website and org-wide email communications
- Board-level communications and governance materials
- Nonprofit partnerships and external organizational partnerships
- Org-wide fundraising campaigns and annual giving communications
Essential Responsibilities
Social Media (HFC-Exclusive Channels)
- Develop and schedule engaging content for the HFC's dedicated social media channels.
- Capture photos and short-form videos highlighting HFC members, classes, events, and facility amenities.
- Create reels, stories, and promotional videos for the HFC's social channels.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments/messages on HFC channels as directed.
- Track social media performance and recommend strategies for increased HFC engagement.
Marketing & Communications (HFC-Specific)
- Design promotional flyers, posters, digital signage, and email graphics for HFC programs and events.
- Assist in creating HFC-specific newsletters, email campaigns, and member communications.
- Help maintain a consistent brand identity for the Health & Fitness Center across all HFC marketing materials.
- Support marketing campaigns for HFC memberships, personal training, aquatics, youth programs, and special events.
- Write promotional copy for HFC brochures, website updates, blogs, and advertisements.
Content Creation
- Interview HFC members, staff, and instructors for success stories and testimonials.
- Create feature stories that highlight HFC programs and community impact.
- Maintain a library of photos and marketing assets for HFC use.
- Assist with updates to HFC-specific pages on the website and event promotions.
Event Support
- Attend selected HFC events to capture photos and videos for social media and promotional use.
- Assist with promotional materials for HFC-specific events before and after activities.
- Help coordinate social media promotion for HFC member appreciation events, community wellness activities, and HFC fundraising initiatives.
Administrative Support
- Maintain marketing calendars and content schedules for HFC social media and campaigns.
- Assist with organizing HFC marketing files and digital assets.
- Conduct basic research on marketing trends relevant to fitness centers and community wellness.
- Complete additional Health & Fitness Center marketing projects as assigned by the HFC Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable using social media platforms professionally.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software preferred.
- Basic photography and video editing skills are a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Interest in health, fitness, wellness, and community engagement.
