The Opportunity
Prime Residential is looking for a Vice President of Information Technology to own our entire technology environment and lead the next phase of how we use data and AI to run the business.
Prime owns and operates approximately 21,000 apartments across California, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the VP of IT leads Prime's IT organization, owns the technology vendor stack and budget, and serves on the Leadership Team as the executive accountable for one of the company's core objectives: leverage technology to efficiently manage and operate.
This is a broad seat. You will own the network and endpoints, cybersecurity, business applications, the property management platform, IT project management, and end-user support. You will also own the two areas where Prime is moving fastest: a trusted data architecture with reporting the business actually uses, and a real strategy for putting AI to work.
We are looking for an operator who modernizes. Someone who can keep 56 communities running while building what comes next, and who is comfortable being measured on both.
What You Will Do
- Own and evolve a cloud-first enterprise technology strategy, architecture, and governance model, translating company objectives into a sequenced roadmap.
- Build, coach, and retain the IT team, with a genuine focus on up-leveling individual skills and careers and creating bench depth so no system and no person is a single point of failure.
- Own technology financial planning and the IT budget, including forecasting, prioritization, licensing optimization, and accounting for each dollar in terms of what it delivers.
- Own IT project management end to end: demand intake, prioritization, governance, delivery performance, risk, budget, and benefits realization.
- Own the Fabric data environment and the reporting layers built on it, with one source of truth, governed definitions, documented logic, and dashboards that are maintainable by more than one person.
- Work aggressively to incorporate AI, including agentic AI, to improve the productivity of corporate and onsite teams; stand up and chair a cross-functional AI governance committee and publish a living AI use policy.
- Provide executive oversight for the Microsoft cloud ecosystem, corporate infrastructure, and Prime's critical SaaS and line-of-business platforms.
- Own the property management platform and surrounding PropTech stack, including leasing, work orders, resident communication, maintenance, screening and fraud controls, smart home equipment, access controls, and the integrations connecting them.
- Run vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management, and rationalize the application portfolio by consolidating or retiring what no longer earns its cost.
- Lead technology workstreams for acquisitions, integrations, platform migrations, and property takeovers, each with a reliable timeline and communication plan.
- Own cybersecurity, identity, compliance, and privacy, along with business continuity and disaster recovery.

Compensation

Requirements
- 10+ years in technology roles, including experience running IT for a multi-site field operation under a finance-driven corporate headquarters; Multifamily is ideal; hospitality, senior living, and other distributed operating businesses with an owned or managed asset base will be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Master's a plus.
- 7+ years leading a team of five or more with full ownership of infrastructure, applications, and security, and a track record of developing people rather than only managing their output.
- Direct experience owning a mid-sized or larger enterprise platform end to end: selection or migration, integration, adoption, ongoing operations, upgrade planning, and change management.
- A track record of scaling IT systems, processes, and tools as an organization grew, including integrating acquired properties or portfolios onto a common platform.
- Hands-on experience establishing technology policy, governance, and standards where none existed. AI governance built from the ground up is the strongest evidence; data governance, security governance, or a privacy program will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience putting data and AI to work in an operating business: building or maturing a data platform, delivering analytics that non-technical users adopted and kept using, and deploying AI tooling with appropriate guardrails.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure, including identity, SSO administration, and Fabric, with experience migrating and operating cloud workloads and optimizing cloud spend.
- Vendor and budget management experience at meaningful scale, including contract negotiation and portfolio rationalization.
