Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Assembly & Test supplier quality.
- Define and lead large, highly technical supplier quality improvement projects with significant business impact.
- Drive implementation of new quality technologies, methodologies, monitoring systems, and supplier quality initiatives.
- Establish and deploy supplier quality standards, best practices, and governance processes across the supplier base.
- Provide technical consultation and strategic recommendations to engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality organizations.
- Mentor engineers and SQEs while building organizational capability through technical leadership.
Supplier Quality Excellence
- Ensure suppliers consistently deliver products and services that meet Micron quality, reliability, and operational requirements.
- Drive supplier compliance to Quality Management Systems (QMS), industry standards, STC requirements, and Micron quality expectations.
- Lead strategic supplier quality assessments, gap analyses, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop and execute long-term supplier quality roadmaps focused on process capability, defect prevention, and operational excellence.
- Enable a shift-left quality culture through advanced process controls, monitoring systems, and proactive defect prevention methodologies.
- Drive supplier accountability through performance reviews, corrective actions, and continuous improvement programs.
Risk Management and Problem Solving
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate supplier quality risks that could impact Micron operations, customers, or business objectives.
- Lead investigations and resolution of highly complex supplier quality excursions, reliability concerns, and process deviations.
- Apply advanced analytical tools and quality engineering methodologies to drive root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing controls, technology readiness, business continuity, and operational resilience.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies that reduce supplier-related quality and operational disruptions.
Cross-Functional Influence
- Act as the primary technical interface between suppliers and Micron internal stakeholders.
- Partner with Assembly, Test, Product Engineering, IQC, Reliability, Procurement, and Operations teams to achieve business objectives.
- Influence supplier leadership teams to adopt quality improvements, advanced controls, and best practices.
- Communicate highly complex technical information effectively to both technical and executive audiences.
- Build strong partnerships and alignment across global functions and supplier organizations.
Innovation and Standards Development
- Identify opportunities for innovation in supplier quality systems, manufacturing controls, and operational processes.
- Drive development of new quality methodologies, metrics, and governance models.
- Create scalable frameworks and standards that can be adopted across multiple suppliers and technologies.
- Support new process qualifications, technology transfers, supplier transitions, and new product introductions.
- Lead benchmarking and industry best-practice adoption initiatives.
Digital Transformation & AI Enablement
Leverage AI-enabled, AI-assisted, and data-driven tools to improve supplier quality monitoring, risk assessment, defect prevention, root cause investigations, and operational decision-making.
Drive adoption of AI-supported and advanced analytics solutions to enhance engineering productivity, supplier performance visibility, process control effectiveness, and quality governance.
- Evaluate and apply Generative AI, Agentic AI, and other emerging digital technologies where appropriate to accelerate problem-solving, streamline workflows, and improve supplier quality outcomes.
- Promote responsible and compliant use of Artificial Intelligence technologies, ensuring alignment with company governance, data security, quality, and business requirements
Impact and Scope
- Decisions directly influence supplier quality performance, project success, and operational effectiveness.
- Leads complex supplier quality initiatives with site, regional, or global impact.
- Recognized as a key technical authority within the Supplier Quality Engineering function.
- Influences business outcomes through technical expertise, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional leadership.
- Defines practices and standards that are broadly adopted within the organization.
Safety, Compliance and Ethics
- Ensure adherence to company quality, safety, security, labor, environmental, and ethics requirements.
- Proactively identify and escalate compliance, quality, or supplier-related risks.
- Support supplier compliance with Micron policies and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline, with 8 years of semiconductor industry experience.
- Strong technical expertise in active semiconductor components, including PMICs, RCDs, Data Buffers, Hubs, Temperature Sensors, ASICs, and controller devices, with knowledge spanning silicon technology, assembly, test, qualification, and reliability.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, wafer sort/probe, process integration, yield improvement, process controls, and reliability engineering.
- Experience working with foundries, OSATs, and component suppliers to drive supplier qualification, technology transfers, process changes, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Proven ability to lead complex quality investigations using statistical analysis, electrical characterization, reliability assessment, failure analysis, and root cause methodologies to drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Strong working knowledge of quality systems and tools, including APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, MSA, 8D, CAPA, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and supplier auditing practices.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global engineering, operations, procurement, quality, and supplier organizations.
- Self-driven and highly accountable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and support domestic/international travel (20-30%) and global business engagements across multiple time zones.
