Description
We are partnering with a commercial flooring contractor to identify a Field Superintendent responsible for overseeing field operations throughout the North Seattle to Bellingham territory. Approximately 90% of the work is concentrated between North Seattle and Everett, with additional projects extending north toward Bellingham.
This is a field-based leadership role focused on safety, quality, productivity, scheduling, and successful project execution. The Field Superintendent will work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Operations leadership, schedulers, installers, and other project team members to ensure projects are properly planned, staffed, and executed from start through completion.
The ideal candidate has commercial flooring experience. Candidates with strong commercial construction experience may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee field operations to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, timeliness, and productivity
• Conduct jobsite visits before projects begin to identify site conditions, material requirements, crew needs, tools, and potential issues
• Confirm project start dates, milestone dates, site readiness, and installation requirements
• Review project scope, plans, and requirements with project teams before work begins
• Provide direction and assistance to field personnel regarding proper installation techniques and industry best practices
• Coordinate installation personnel and recommend crew assignments and sequencing based on project requirements
• Monitor field productivity and recommend adjustments to staffing levels when necessary
• Communicate potential problems, site conditions, schedule concerns, and other project risks to Project Managers and Operations leadership
• Visit projects experiencing issues and work directly with field personnel to identify and resolve problems
• Ensure all additional work is properly approved before proceeding
• Coordinate material requirements, staging plans, tools, equipment, and other field needs with project teams
• Monitor project schedules and make timely adjustments when field conditions require changes
• Review project requirements with installers and ensure crews have a clear understanding of the scope before beginning work
• Maintain accurate project information and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
• Participate in preconstruction, project planning, and other meetings as required
• Monitor compliance with company, customer, state, and federal safety requirements
• Identify training needs and support continued development of field personnel
• Maintain consistent communication with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Operations leadership, installers, and other project stakeholders
• Ensure field teams promptly communicate production issues, safety concerns, and other project risks
• Support successful project completion while maintaining strong customer relationships
Ideal Background
• Commercial flooring experience strongly preferred
• Commercial construction experience considered for candidates without direct flooring experience
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction or flooring installation techniques, equipment, tools, and field practices
• Experience supervising or coordinating field personnel and installation crews
• Strong understanding of construction scheduling, jobsite coordination, and project execution
• Ability to identify potential project issues before they affect schedule, budget, quality, or productivity
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple active projects and priorities
• Comfortable using email, mobile communication, and standard project management systems
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory and regularly visit active jobsites
• OSHA or other relevant safety training preferred
