St John of God Murdoch Hospital is seeking an experienced and confident clinical leader to join our team as a Hospital Coordinator.

In this senior operational role, you will provide hospital-wide coordination and leadership across the daily operations of St John of God Murdoch, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective delivery of high-quality patient care.

Working across the hospital, you will oversee patient flow, clinical and workforce resources, bed capacity, staffing requirements and operational priorities, while responding to changing demands throughout each shift. You will also lead and support emergency management responses and attend hospital codes, providing calm and decisive leadership when it matters most.

A key focus of the role will be working closely with Nurse Managers to ensure appropriate clinical staffing and skill mix are maintained across the hospital. You will play an important role in labour management, workforce deployment and resource allocation, balancing patient needs, workforce availability and operational requirements.

The Position

As Hospital Coordinator, you will:

• Provide hospital-wide coordination and leadership to support the delivery of safe, high-quality and cost-effective patient care.

• Coordinate nursing resources across wards, including permanent and casual nursing pools and agency workforce.

• Work closely with Nurse Managers to support effective ward management, workforce planning and consistency in clinical care delivery.

• Monitor and optimise inpatient bed capacity, considering patient demand, clinical acuity, bed availability and nursing resources.

• Act as a senior clinical resource and professional role model for staff across the hospital.

• Provide clinical and operational leadership during complex or rapidly changing situations, escalating to Executive and Medical teams where required.

• Lead daily workforce and resource management, including sick leave replacement, staff redeployment and changing activity requirements.

• Collaborate with clinical and support departments to facilitate appropriate and timely patient admissions and transfers.

• Respond to and attend inter-hospital emergencies in accordance with hospital procedures.

• Participate in relevant meetings, committees and operational forums.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to a culture of innovation, change and best practice across the hospital.

About you

You will be an experienced nurse leader with highly developed communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills, and the confidence to lead effectively within a complex healthcare environment.

You will bring:

• Previous experience in a Hospital Coordinator or similar senior clinical leadership role.

• Strong clinical leadership capability and sound understanding of hospital operations.

• Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, rostering and activity management.

• Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret activity and workforce data.

• Experience leading and implementing change and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Sound knowledge of recruitment and performance management principles.

• Demonstrated ability to establish, monitor and achieve financial and operational targets and benchmarks.

• Strong risk management capabilities and the ability to balance competing clinical, workforce and operational priorities.

• The ability to make sound clinical, managerial and ethical decisions in complex and time-critical situations.

• A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build strong working relationships across nursing, medical, executive and support teams.

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to deliver outcomes within established timeframes.

• Casual rate: $86.57 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus12% superannuation

• Casual position available, working a variety of morning, afternoon and night duty shifts across a 24/7 roster, Monday to Sunday
