Overview:
Supports the LINE Façade Studio using a wide range of developing professional skills focused exclusively on leading-edge façade and enclosure elements. Performs fundamental design, engineering, and analysis tasks requiring application of standard and emerging techniques or knowledge while working under general supervision. Creative, open-minded, embodies professionalism and accountability, provides and receives rational feedback, uses respectful language, and is ready to surmount conventional thinking.Responsibilities:
- Modifies or creates enclosure sketches, drafted details, 3d models, BIM models, narratives, specifications, reports, and other documentation applying standard architectural and engineering techniques
- Works closely with project or team leaders on all technical and design aspects of project implementation
- Performs routine architectural, engineering, and/or energy analysis assignments, including design responsibilities in collaboration with other team members
- Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of one’s own work
- Responsible for meeting agreed deadlines
- Assignments may include higher-level work for training/development purposes.
- May attend external meetings as appropriate and represent the team, HKS, and discipline
- May assist in preparing proposals, presentations, schedules, physical samples, or physical models
- Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, including process management, design, technical, and/or coordination issues with internal and external team members and disciplines
- May participate site or factory inspection, audit, or test oversite visits
Qualifications:
- Accredited professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field
- On the path to Architectural or Engineering Registration
- Typically with 0-3 years of experience
- Sustainable design accreditation preferred
- Knowledge of architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Sketchup and 3D modeling preferred
- Knowledge of scripting and parametric modeling software such as Grasshopper, Ladybug Tools, Dynamo, Python, C# preferred
- Awareness of structural analysis software such as Strand, Solidworks, SJ Mepla, Ansys Mech preferred
- Awareness of thermal engineering software such as LBNL Window, LBNL Therm, LBNL Optics, WUFI, WUFI Mould Index VTT preferred
- Awareness of optical, lighting, and daylighting design software such as RADIANCE, Climate Studio, EVALGLARE, Acelerad, Ladybug Tools, ALFA, LARK preferred
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign graphic software preferred
- Awareness of energy modeling tools such as Energy Plus, Design Builder, IES VE preferred
- Awareness of façade and building enclosure role in supporting energy efficiency, sustainability, and human factors performance of buildings
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
- Knowledge of building codes
- Knowledge of engineering design standards
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
- Ability to problem solve and collaborate on innovative solutions
- Ability to work in team environment
- Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
- Travel may be required
