Receiving individual direction from the Personal Importation Program Manager, the Personal Importation Pharmacy Associate will serve as a key team member responsible for the daily duties and responsibilities within the Personal Importation Program. In addition, the Personal Importation Pharmacy Associate will participate in helping resolve the daily operational and service issues that arise. He/she will assist in the communication between members, brokers, HR, and their direct report, as necessary within the given program.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Participates in collaboration with the pharmacy team and the overall benefits organization to facilitate the reduction of pharmaceutical cost, while maintaining high levels of quality, service, and safety through the Personal Importation Program.
  • Contributes in the maintaining of organized/accurate database reporting regarding the Personal Importation Program.
  • Clearly relays communication regarding program requirements and timelines with pharmacy team members, plans and plan members.
  • Develops and maintains internal relationships (benefits, pharmacy, accounting, marketing, and legal) and external relationships (wholesalers, manufacturers, employee benefit pharmacy benefits managers (PBMs), and third-party administrator vendors) as needed.
  • Participates in ongoing training, education, and communication required by the organization.
  • Handles all routine PBM related issues, including but not limited to: pharmacy processing issues (incorrect DOB or person codes), Procare issues (member not added to system), etc. 
  • Assists superiors with additional assigned projects.

Requirements


• High school diploma or equivalent 

• One (1) or more years of experience in pharmacy, healthcare, insurance, benefits, or a related field 

• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills 

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records 

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve routine operational issues 

• Ability to handle confidential member and health information 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel 


Preferred

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) 

• Experience in pharmacy operations, PBM, specialty pharmacy, or pharmacy benefits 

• Experience working with pharmacy claims or member eligibility 

• Experience working with PBMs, TPAs, pharmacies, or other healthcare vendors 

• Experience with personal importation or medication cost-containment programs
