County Rescue Services, a private nonprofit ambulance provider, provides exceptional 911 coverage throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

In addition, County Rescue Services partners with local and regional medical facilities to provide both emergent and non-emergent interfacility transport for patients.

Position Summary


We're hiring Paramedics for both Full-Time and Part-Time roles, and you'll let us know which you're interested in when you apply. Full-Time team members work 24-hour shifts on a rotating cycle, while Part-Time team members have the flexibility to choose 12- or 24-hour shifts. Paramedics work under the direction of the Assistant Supervisor and Shift Supervisor on duty and ultimately report to the EMS Chief.


We hire Paramedics in quarterly cycles and maintain applications for consideration as openings become available. Application review and interview timing may therefore vary based on current staffing needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides Basic and Advanced Life Support to critically ill or injured patients at emergency scenes and during transport, delivering care within the scope of Wisconsin Paramedic practice, agency protocols and medical direction.

• Communicates effectively with all health care and public safety staff involved in patient care.

• Assesses patient condition, plans care, intervenes appropriately, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.

• Operates emergency and non-emergency response vehicles safely in accordance with agency policy and traffic laws.

• Completes accurate, complete, and timely patient care reports and other required clinical and operational documentation.

• Maintains a clean and safe work environment by completing vehicle and equipment cleaning, inventory, and minor maintenance.

• Maintains working knowledge of emergency response procedures for disasters and multiple casualty incidents and recommends improvements to the Shift Supervisor based on lessons learned.

• Stays informed of applicable federal, state, and local EMS regulations and adheres to them.

• Demonstrates continual awareness and use of positive interpersonal communication and public relations skills in supporting the philosophy, mission, and quality of care of County Rescue Services.

• Participates in required training, continuing education, competency validation, and quality assurance/performance improvement activities.

• Maintains effective internal and external working relationships.


Physical Requirements


• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and assist in moving patients and equipment, independently and as part of a team. Patient and equipment loads may exceed 400 lbs. and may require team-based patient handling and/or appropriate lifting equipment.

• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and climb in and out of the ambulance across a range of settings, including uneven, sloped, or hazardous terrain.

• Ability to sit for extended periods while driving or monitoring patients, including on shifts up to 24 hours.

• Ability to work in varying weather conditions, with exposure to loud sirens and bright or dim lighting.

• Ability to perform fine motor tasks such as starting IVs, administering medications, and operating medical and communications equipment.

• Regular exposure to blood and communicable diseases is expected; PPE and OSHA-compliant procedures are provided and required.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Current State of Wisconsin Paramedic license is required.

• Critical Care Transport (CCT) training preferred but not required.

• Current CPR certification; ICS 100, 200, and 700 preferred.

• Valid driver's license and ability to meet and maintain applicable company and insurance carrier driver eligibility requirements.

• Will maintain education requirements necessary to maintain licensure and/or certifications.

• Previous 911 EMS and/or interfacility transport experience preferred

• Successful completion of a criminal background check.  A conviction or pending criminal charge will not automatically disqualify an applicant and will be considered in accordance with applicable law. 

• Job offers contingent on background check, reference check, and drug screen.
