Multnomah County's Facilities and Property Management (FPM) is seeking an On Call Facilities Dispatcher to join our team, which operates 24/7/365.
In addition to the hourly rate of pay, On-Call employees will receive a differential of $1.50 in lieu of benefits and be paid at time-and-a-half rate for all hours worked on New Year’s Day, MLK JR Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas.
Applicants must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be scheduled in advance or on short notice, similar to substitute teaching. The number of hours you work will vary and shifts may be continuous.
As a Dispatcher, you will:
Receive and prioritize high-volume phone calls, emails, and maintenance requests concerning problems in County buildings, while providing exceptional customer service
Establish initial prioritization and scheduling by ascertaining severity and impact of the issue
Generate and track computer-based (TRIRIGA) work orders from initial receipt to closure
Create equipment and building maintenance plans
Communicate with trades, Property Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders via email, phone calls, and text messages regarding work assignments
Support tracking of assets, inventory, and processing of invoices
Monitor personnel locations to coordinate services and schedule
Provide counter-service to internal and external clients
Coordinate Countywide inclement weather and snow removal response
Advise County leadership of emergency situations via Everbridge
Coordinate schedules and perform miscellaneous clerical tasks such as creating forms, compiling data, and reporting using Google documents, calendar, and spreadsheets
Operationally Essential Position: Employees who have been designated as operationally essential (“Essential”) are required to report for duty regardless of facility closure or curtailment of some or all County operations.
To Qualify
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Please be clear and specific about how your background is relevant.
Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
AND
Proven track record of 3 years delivering customer service using computer-based support systems.
Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
Demonstrated working knowledge of Google documents and calendaring
Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Please clearly explain on your application how you meet any of the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills.
Experience and/or training in a computer-based work order management system, preferably TRIRIGA
Knowledge and experience building reports with Excel or Google Sheets
At least 1 year experience in building maintenance/property management or equivalent related experience.

Schedule: Requires high availability for variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and continuous coverage. This role operates on a flexible, on-call model—similar to substitute teaching—with shifts scheduled in advance or requested on short notice. Total hours vary week to week.
Residency Requirement: All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington. We are unable to sponsor work visas.
