About the Role
One of our key client’s Messaging and Collaboration Engineering team is seeking a proactive Employee Technology Systems Engineer to support global collaboration, messaging, compliance, automation, and employee experience services. This role supports Microsoft 365 and related platforms used across the enterprise and works closely with business teams, technology partners, InfoSec, IAM, Legal/Compliance, the Service Desk, and external support partners.
The engineer will help administer, troubleshoot, automate, document, and modernize services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Teams Rooms, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, SMTP relay platforms, file services, ServiceNow workflows, and related reporting and automation tools.
This role requires strong technical problem-solving, sound judgment, clear communication, and the ability to support daily operations while also contributing to platform modernization, governance improvements, and project delivery across multiple time zones.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and support Microsoft 365 collaboration and messaging services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Teams Rooms, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, SMTP relay platforms, file services, and related employee experience services.
Manage Exchange Online mail flow, email protection, archive capacity, retention and deletion policies, SMTP relay operations, transport rules, connectors, DKIM, DMARC, SPF, and DNS/MX-related changes.
Support Microsoft Purview operations, including eDiscovery, audit search, communication compliance troubleshooting, retention-related requests, and legal/compliance data requests in accordance with approved processes and access controls.
Provide Tier 2 & 3 troubleshooting and operational support for escalated incidents, service requests, confidential requests, and business-critical messaging and collaboration issues.
Support Power Platform and Copilot Studio administration activities, including environment creation guidance, Dataverse storage considerations, deployment pipeline support, governance documentation, and operational readiness.
Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell, Power Automate, Copilot, and other approved tools to improve reporting, ticket handling, service health visibility, license tracking, and administrative tasks.
Participate in and support technical projects, including service migrations, platform upgrades, EWS-to-Microsoft Graph migration, Teams and Zoom room transition work, mail flow modernization, file service migrations, and governance improvements.
Coordinate with Microsoft, support partners, vendors, IAM, InfoSec, Service Desk, Legal/Compliance, and business teams to resolve issues, validate requirements, and implement sustainable solutions.
Create and maintain ServiceNow knowledge articles, operational guides, change records, project documentation, and standard support procedures.
Use approved AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to support research, troubleshooting, documentation, automation, and process improvement.
Participate in change management, maintenance activities, on-call rotation, incident response, and post-change validation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of experience supporting Microsoft 365 in a complex enterprise environment.
Experience administering Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Room Resource accounts, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, SMTP relay services, and file services.
Strong troubleshooting skills across mail flow, identity, permissions, DNS, service health, client access, and Microsoft 365 admin portals.
Working knowledge of Exchange Online Protection, transport rules, connectors, archive mailboxes, retention/deletion policies, DKIM, DMARC, SPF, OAuth, Microsoft Graph, EWS, and enterprise app registrations.
Experience with PowerShell scripting for Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, reporting, and automation.
Familiarity with Microsoft Purview capabilities such as eDiscovery, audit search, communication compliance, retention, and legal/compliance workflows.
Familiarity with Power Platform administration, Dataverse, environment management, deployment pipelines, and Copilot Studio is preferred.
Experience working in ServiceNow for incidents, requests, catalog tasks, change records, and knowledge article maintenance.
Ability to coordinate with vendors, Microsoft support partners, InfoSec, IAM, Legal/Compliance, Service Desk, and business stakeholders.
Ability to work independently in a fast-changing global environment, manage priorities, document work clearly, and participate in on-call support.
Preferred Experience
Experience with mail flow modernization, SMTP relay migration, Exchange archive/storage remediation, and external archiving or journaling solutions.
Experience supporting Teams Rooms supporting Room Resource accounts, meeting room configuration, reporting, and conferencing platform migrations.
Experience using Power Automate or Azure-based automation to summarize service health, generate operational reporting, or improve ticket triage.
Experience supporting Microsoft 365 licensing, service account reviews, admin role reviews, and least-privilege access practices.
Experience working with cross-functional project teams through requirements, risk assessment, implementation, testing, communication, and support transition.
Working Expectations
