Description

The Child Watch Team Member provides safe, attentive, and engaging care for children aged 3 months to 9 years while their guardians use the Monarch Recreation Center. The role supports daily operations of the Child Watch area, supervises play, maintains a clean environment, and delivers excellent customer service.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of children, monitors activities, and encourages age-appropriate play.
  • Cleans and disinfects toys, equipment, and surfaces; maintains orderly play areas.
  • Ensures proper sign-in and sign-out procedures, verifies guardianship, and maintains required documents.
  • Encourages play, provides guidance, and facilitates a positive environment.
  • Provides courteous customer service, answers questions, and reports concerns to the Child Watch Lead.
  • Follows emergency protocols, mandatory standards, and facility rules.
  • Remains accessible via cell phone to address job-related issues or emergencies using City applications.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Formal Education: Must be at least 16 years of age and currently enrolled in high school or have completed high school/GED.
Relatable Work Experience: Prior experience in childcare preferred but not required.
Training, Licenses, and Certifications: Adult and Child CPR, and Standard First Aid certification required within 6 months of hire. Babysitting Basics Certification will be included in on-the-job training.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of babysitting, child watch, or working with children.

Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic childcare and supervision.
  • Knowledge of basic customer service standards.
  • Skills in communication, patience, and positive interaction with children.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and established policies.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Environmental Factors and Other Physical Requirements (Work Environment):
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Regular talking, listening, and interaction with children.
  • Potential minor injuries from working with active children.
  • Exposure to loud play environments.
  • Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids
