Job Details:

Enterprise Reliability Engineer

The Enterprise Reliability Engineer is a seasoned maintenance and reliability professional focused on one central question: how do we move Tyson from a reactive maintenance approach to a proactive, reliability-driven organization at scale? This role is hyper-focused on identifying where the biggest opportunities are across our maintenance operations and driving the changes, priorities, and programs needed to capture them.

This position requires working side by side with plant maintenance teams, understanding their opportunities, and continuously improving the practices and technology in their hands. You will lead our predictive maintenance program, provide expert guidance into the priorities for the maintenance capabilities of our enterprise application, and target the highest-value opportunities — from predictive maintenance to MRO and spare-parts inventory optimization. Success in this role is measured not by activity, but by reliability improved and dollars saved at the plant level.

With more than 8,000 maintenance team members across 100+ manufacturing facilities, this position will be front and center influencing change and driving proactive maintenance practices at massive scale.

Immediate Focus (First 6–12 Months)

  • Lead the enterprise rollout and adoption of our predictive maintenance (PdM) program, ensuring each facility realizes real, measurable value — not just installed technology.

  • Provide expert guidance into the priorities, requirements, and backlog for the maintenance-related capabilities of our enterprise application, so development effort targets the highest-value work first.

  • Establish baseline reliability KPIs and the metrics that will track our shift from a reactive to a proactive maintenance approach.

  • Build early credibility and relationships with plant maintenance leaders to lay the groundwork for enterprise-wide change.

Future Scope & Roadmap

  • Lead MRO and spare-parts inventory optimization across the network — reducing carrying costs and stockouts while improving parts availability and asset uptime.

  • Expand the proactive/reliability program enterprise-wide: reliability standards, asset criticality, and condition-based maintenance practices at scale.

  • Continue shaping the maintenance capabilities of our enterprise application as needs evolve, keeping the backlog aligned to the biggest opportunities.

  • Potentially guide a new enterprise maintenance training platform, should it move onto the roadmap, including competency frameworks and technical learning paths.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify the highest-value maintenance opportunities across the network and clearly define what needs to change or be developed to capture them.

  • Drive the transition from a reactive maintenance approach to a proactive, reliability-centered organization at enterprise scale.

  • Lead the enterprise-wide rollout of our predictive maintenance (PdM) program across 100+ facilities, driving standardization, adoption, and measurable value at each site.

  • Serve as the primary liaison to our external PdM vendor, continuously improving the platform by capturing structured feedback from plant maintenance teams and translating it into product enhancements.

  • Provide expert guidance into the backlog and priorities for the maintenance capabilities within our internally developed enterprise maintenance and production application — helping decide what gets built and in what order.

  • Translate plant needs into clear, prioritized requirements and partner closely with internal software and data teams to deliver solutions that reflect how maintenance actually works on the floor.

  • Lead MRO and spare-parts inventory optimization efforts to reduce cost and improve parts availability across facilities.

  • Define, track, and report reliability KPIs (asset availability, MTBF/MTTR, PM and PdM compliance, unplanned downtime, cost avoidance) to quantify program ROI and prove value.

  • Establish enterprise reliability standards — asset criticality frameworks and condition-based maintenance practices (vibration, infrared thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic, motor-circuit analysis) that scale across the network.

  • Ensure safety-critical processes — including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and machine energy control — are designed into platform workflows and maintenance standards, in partnership with EHS.

  • Build trust and strong working relationships across 100+ plants and 8,000+ maintenance team members, acting as a credible peer to plant maintenance leaders and technicians.

  • Drive change management and adoption so new practices and standards actually stick where the work happens.

  • Prepare and deliver clear, data-backed reporting, recommendations, and value stories to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

  • Perform other assigned job-related duties that align with our organization's vision, mission, and values and fall within your scope of practice.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Reliability Engineering — or relevant hands-on maintenance/reliability experience.

  • Preferred Certification(s): CMRP (SMRP Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), or equivalent.

  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive maintenance and reliability experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, including significant hands-on time on the plant floor.

Special Skills

  • Deep expertise in core reliability methodologies — Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), FMEA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), PM optimization, and asset criticality analysis.

  • Proven ability to identify high-value maintenance opportunities and clearly articulate what needs to change to capture them.

  • Experience taking a maintenance organization from reactive to proactive/predictive at scale.

  • MRO and spare-parts inventory optimization experience — balancing carrying cost, availability, and uptime.

  • Working knowledge of predictive and condition-based maintenance practices and how to deploy them at scale.

  • Demonstrated success leading multi-site or enterprise programs, including driving adoption and change management — not just design.

  • A maintenance background credible enough to earn the trust of plant maintenance leaders and technicians from day one.

  • Experience with CMMS/EAM systems and translating maintenance needs into clear system requirements and priorities.

  • Product ownership or backlog-management experience (Agile) a strong plus.

  • Experience in food, protein, or high-speed CPG manufacturing — including refrigeration/ammonia systems, high-speed packaging, and process equipment — a strong plus.

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma background a plus.

  • Ability to collaborate efficiently in teams of technical and non-technical individuals, and comfort working in a dynamic environment with evolving objectives and iteration with users.

Soft Skills

  • Influence Without Authority: Earning buy-in across independent plants without direct reporting lines.

  • Project Management: Leading complex, multi-site reliability initiatives end-to-end.

  • Strategic Thinking: Aligning technology and reliability solutions with organizational goals.

  • Communication: Articulating strategy and value to technicians, plant leaders, and executives alike.

  • Problem-Solving: Resolving complex reliability and systems challenges.

  • Adaptability: Staying current with rapidly evolving maintenance and reliability technologies.

  • Mentorship: Guiding team members in technical and professional growth.

  • Customer obsession

  • Teamwork & Collaboration
