ā What Youāll DoĀ
Ā
Patient Care & Cast ServicesĀ
Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and traction devices under the direction of orthopedic providersĀ
Monitor patients for changes in skin integrity and promptly communicate concernsĀ
Support patients and families by educating them on care plans for casts, splints, traction, and halo devicesĀ
Help ensure each patient feels informed, comfortable, and cared for throughout their treatmentĀ
Ā
Inpatient CollaborationĀ
Serve as a resource for nursing staff regarding traction setups, troubleshooting, and potential complicationsĀ
Provide patients with clear, written instructions on cast care and prevention of complicationsĀ
Assist with patient mobility using Hoyer lifts and support safe transport across care areasĀ
Partner with lift teams and patient transport teams to ensure safe, coordinated careĀ
Ā
Environment & EquipmentĀ
Maintain appropriate supply levels and ensure the cast room is clean, organized, and readyĀ
Clean and care for equipment following proper infection control protocolsĀ
Ā
Operational SupportĀ
Accurately charge for supplies and equipment usedĀ
Provide support in the operating room alongside orthopedic surgeons when neededĀ
Ā
šĀ What Youāll BringĀ
High School Diploma or equivalentĀ
One year of orthopedic experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferredĀ
OR two years of related experience in lieu of formal educationĀ
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart AssociationĀ
Ā
āØĀ Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesĀ
Clear and compassionate communication skillsĀ
Clinical training background such as nursing assistant, corpsman, or EMT experienceĀ
Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, patient-focused environmentĀ
Strong prioritization skills when managing multiple responsibilitiesĀ
Knowledge of sterilization, safety, and infection prevention protocolsĀ
