About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent: Finance. This role is instrumental in providing timeous and accurate financial information, analysis and decision support to line management, divisional management, the Managing Entity (Rio Tinto) and Shareholders and ensure that RBM complies with all statutory, tax and other regulatory legislation linked to finance activities.

Reporting to the Manager: Financial Accounting and Treasury, and working in a collaborative community within Finance you will:

• Provide accurate and relevant decision-making analysis and ensure support is provided to Business and Group.
• Oversee the execution of the monthly, bi-annual and annual reporting process and ensure accuracy and timeous submission.  Work closely with FBP and Project Accounting departments to ensure compliance and that deadliness are met.
• Ensure that Annual Financial Statements for all registered entities are prepared timeously and in accordance with required quality standards.
•   Oversee the submission of VAT, Dividend tax, Income tax, Carbon tax and Mining Royalty returns and ensure tax payments are processed timeously and accurately.
• Oversee the resolution of all queries and finalise SARS open audits. Ensure compliance to Companies act, Income tax act, IFRS and any other relevant legislation.
• Oversee that all GL accounts are reconciled and outstanding items cleared within set reporting timeliness.
• Oversee, coordinate and direct the sales reporting function.
• Work closely with internal and external Auditors, ensure that audits are completed timeously and in accordance with required RBM, Rio Tinto and Legislative standards.
• Prepare and deliver presentations of the company’s financial performance to business leadership monthly.
• Compile financial information for inclusion and presentation at Board meetings.
• Oversee the capital accounting function for business.
• Ensure continuous improvement and simplification of financial reporting systems and procedures.
• Ensure that annual electronic and manual archiving is done as per procedure.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis.
• Maintain and improve safety, health and environmental standards and practices.
• Direct and control the activities, standards of performance and behavior of designated support staff.
• Identification of staff training requirements and development needs to facilitate optimal functioning and productivity.

• A Valid South African Driver’s license
• 5 years’ experience in a similar position within mining industry.
