This six-month internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to concept development, innovation, design, branding, research and global project coordination while working on projects across Mandarin Oriental's worldwide portfolio.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Corporate Office within the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences – Global Concepts & Innovation Department in Hong Kong, the Intern, Restaurants, Bars & Experiences – Global Concepts & Innovation supports the research, development, documentation and coordination of restaurant, bar and guest experience concepts across Mandarin Oriental's global portfolio.

This is a full-time internship with a six-month commitment, designed to provide meaningful hands-on exposure to concept creation, design development, market research, project coordination and global hospitality innovation. The role reports to the Director, Global Concepts & Innovation.

As Intern, Restaurants, Bars & Experiences – Global Concepts & Innovation, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support the creation and development of restaurant, bar, lounge, in-room dining, meetings and event concepts, and broader guest experiences across new developments, renovations and conversions.

  • Conduct market research, trend analysis, competitor benchmarking and concept studies to support innovation, concept positioning and strategic decision-making.

  • Assist in the development of concept decks, vision statements, Brand Books, Design Books, guest journey frameworks, programming concepts and presentation materials.

  • Maintain project dashboards, trackers, action logs, image libraries, partner databases and concept reference materials across multiple global workstreams.

  • Support project meetings by preparing materials, taking notes, tracking actions and coordinating follow-up activities with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Research cultural programming, music concepts, partnerships and signature guest experiences that enhance concept identity and guest engagement.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, hotels, consultants, branding agencies, designers and other partners across different regions and time zones.

  • Participate in selected property visits, workshops and concept reviews, where appropriate.

As Intern, Restaurants, Bars & Experiences – Global Concepts & Innovation, we expect from you:

  • Currently studying towards, or recently graduated with, a diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Interior Design, Architecture, Design Management, Marketing, Business, Culinary Arts or a related discipline.

  • Available to commit to a full-time, six-month internship based at our Hong Kong Corporate Office.

  • A genuine interest in luxury hospitality, food and beverage concepts, guest experiences, branding, design and innovation.

  • Strong research, analytical and visual storytelling skills with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

  • Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to prepare concise reports, summaries and presentations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.

  • Comfortable using AI tools for research and concept development while applying sound judgement, attention to detail and confidentiality.

  • Highly organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • A collaborative mindset with the confidence to work across cultures, functions and global teams.
