The Global Transaction Banking (GTB) division at BBVA is a strategic unit within Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) dedicated to providing comprehensive transaction banking solutions to corporate and institutional clients.

More specifically, the Cash Management team is responsible for selling solutions designed to optimize the management of payments, collections, and liquidity, including cash pooling, virtual accounts, and Request to Pay solutions. These services are delivered through advanced digital platforms such as BBVA Pivot, as well as Host-to-Host (H2H) and SWIFT connectivity.

About the job:

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining the business strategy and commercial plan for the promotion of Acquiring services and Commercial cards.

  • Originate proactively commercial opportunities jointly with the CIB Transaction bankers.

  • Attend meetings with clients recurrently together with CIB Transaction bankers. Support bankers in the presentation to the clients of the BBVA Payment Services portfolio.

  • Keep internal relationship with Product areas and transfer client needs and requirements.

  • Receive and manage Request for Proposals (RFP, RFI, RFQ).

  • Set up transaction product prices. Review those prices with the GTB Pricing Specialist to check if prices are within the margins laid down.

  • Generate recurrent income.

  • Review legal documentation of agreements and contracts in collaboration with Legal CIB.

  • Record the commercial opportunity in the Pipeline application updating its status along the life of the operation.  

  • Study of the catalogue of Payment Services portfolio and market trends.

  • Measure, monitor and analyze through management tools all products and services income generated per customer.

  • Report to the Head of Local CM Sales on a periodic and ad-hoc basis.

Hiring Requirements

1. Education & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Trade, or Engineering. Advanced master’s degree (e.g., MBA, Master in Finance) is highly desirable.

  • Any postgraduate course related to payment methods and merchant acquiring will be considered an asset.

2. Experience:

  • Years of Experience: At least 6 years of professional experience in merchant acquiring services, payment methods, and e-commerce.  

  • Track Record: Proven track record in B2B commercial roles, originating, promoting, specifically Cash Management, Acquiring services and Commercial Cards. Especially strong product and solution knowledge.

  • Desirable: Corporate Client Exposure. Solid experience in managing direct commercial relationships with large corporate and institutional clients, collaborating closely with Senior Bankers and Product teams.

3. Functional & Technical Knowledge (Cash Management & GTB):

  • Products & Solutions: merchant acquiring and corporate cards.

  • Pricing & P&L Management: Expertise in setting up transaction pricing models, managing client profitability (P&L tracking), and aligning margins with GTB Pricing Specialists. In this context, strong Excel skills and high analytical capacity.

  • Documentation & Process Management: Strong capability in managing Request for Proposals/Information/Quotes (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs), recording sales opportunities in CRM tools (e.g., Pipeline tracking), and reviewing legal documentation alongside Legal CIB teams.

4. Languages:

  • Spanish: Native or full professional proficiency (C2).

  • English: Full professional proficiency / Advanced (C1 minimum /C2 ideally) for regular interaction with global clients, multi-national corporates, and cross-border CIB teams.

  • Other Languages: Knowledge of an additional European language is considered an advantage.
