Purpose of the role

To create user-centred and visually appealing designs for digital banking products by conducting user research, design of user interfaces and experiences, collaboration with stakeholders, and continuous improvement. 

Accountabilities

  • Execution of user research and usability tests to understand customer needs, pain points, and integrate feedback and preferences to banking products and services, through collaboration with various stakeholders, including product managers and developers.
  • Creation of intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for digital banking platforms and applications for a seamless and engaging user experience.
  • Design and maintenance of visually appealing and consistent user interfaces that align with the bank's brand identity and design guidelines across digital products.
  • Creation of wireframes and interactive prototypes for visualisation and testing of product concepts and features before development.
  • Accessibility considerations to ensure that designs comply with accessibility standards and guidelines to provide an inclusive experience for all users.
  • Monitoring of industry trends, design best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the design quality and innovation of banking products.

  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.

Join us as a Product Designer in our Private Bank and Wealth Management team.

The Senior level Product Designer is responsible for crafting best in class user experiences. Intuitive, accessible, aligned to customer needs to drive optimal customer and commercial outcomes across Wealth Management. Working within feature teams, our designers transform complex financial interactions into simple, effective and client-friendly journeys.

The role is central to our ambition to make investing and wealth management easier to understand, easier to access and easier to act on. The designer works closely with Product, Research, Data Science and Technology to iterate solutions based on client evidence, usability feedback and delivery feasibility. The role contributes to both the quality of individual journeys and the broader end-to-end client experience across channels and touchpoints.

What you will be doing

  • Design end-to-end digital experiences, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and interface designs translating customer, business and technical requirements into effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Design Researchers, Data Science and Technology to shape solutions from discovery through to delivery and ongoing optimisation. Effectively communicate design rationale and advocate for user-centred design principles.
  • Use UX and CX principles to reduce friction and simplify complex wealth journeys for better client outcomes.
  • Collaborating the Research team, utilise client research, behavioural insight and performance data to inform design decisions, iterate and enhance the user experience.
  • Contribute to and champion design systems, accessibility standards and consistent digital experience patterns.
  • Ensure design decisions balance client needs, business outcomes, technical feasibility and control requirements.
  • Create clear design artefacts and documentation that support delivery, stakeholder alignment and effective decision-making.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in product design, UX design or interaction design with strong digital delivery exposure.
  • Portfolio and/or case studies demonstrating your design thinking and approach to user-centred design, prototyping capability and measurable impact delivered through digital experiences. Good understanding of accessibility, usability and design systems.
  • Experience working in cross-functional product or feature teams.
  • Ability to simplify complex services, ideally in financial services, fintech, wealth, banking or similarly regulated sectors
  • Curiosity to understand and leverage emerging technologies, including AI enabled design tools, to improve efficiency and insight generation. Both for your design workflow as well as when considering client facing tools, ensuring appropriate governance.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in cross-functional product or feature teams
  • Ability to simplify complex services, ideally in financial services, fintech, wealth, banking or regulated sectors
  • Passion for making investing and financial decisions easier for clients

This role is based in London, Glasgow, Northampton or Knutsford.
