Job Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Content Strategist builds subject matter expertise to develop and tailor messaging for the Academy’s Division of Practice Advancement and other business areas as assigned. Additionally, this role leads content plan development and promotional strategies that drive engagement while continuously improving AAFP content through audits, measurement, optimization and process improvements. As a member of the Integrated Marketing Communication team, the Content Strategist:
· Collaborates with editors, writers, designers and marketers to produce and distribute engaging content across the website, social media, email marketing and podcast channels.
· Routinely audits content and identify areas for improvement.
· Builds editorial schedules, ensure deliverables are met, measure effectiveness, and share insights and best practices.
· Delivers member value through development of high-quality resources, education and connection; help drive organizational revenue by driving member value and thereby member retention.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree (or through equivalent work experience) in communications, marketing, English, or related area, plus a minimum of four years of related work experience in content creation, digital marketing or editorial management.
Required skills for success include:
· Proficiency in AP style and application of brand standards in communications work.
· Demonstrated success in working with editorial plans and working within content strategy frameworks.
· Basic aptitude of current web analytics tools such as Google Data Studio and Semrush.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Publishing experience in digital channels.
· Understanding principles of information architecture, componentized content management systems and syndication.
· Understanding application of SEO best practices.
· Knowledge of GEO/AEO best practices.
