About the Position

Are you looking for an opportunity to utilize your creativity and natural leadership skills to inspire and mentor others? As the Outreach Services Supervisor, you will provide direction to staff in the department's business assistance, school education, outreach, and communications programs.  Your team will assist businesses, schools, and the community in  understanding air quality, including compliance with regulations, educational opportunities, and promote a variety of air quality outreach campaigns.

This position offers hybrid flexibility after a brief training period.

We Require

• A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a communications and outreach role within education or the public sector, supporting or supervising tasks such as organizing and executing collaborative meetings and events and monitoring and maintaining web and social communications
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public administration, environmental science, business, or related field 
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis 

Other Requirements

The selected candidate must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire.

Job Contributions

• Provides direction, oversight, mentoring, and supervision to staff in the business assistance, school education, outreach, and communications programs; coordinates and assigns training; evaluates performance
• Manages the air quality educational kiosks project: ensures kiosks are in working order, coordinates with the Air Monitoring Division to maintain sensors and improve kiosk effectiveness, identifies additional kiosk locations (as appropriate), and negotiates contracts and agreements necessary for kiosk placement
• Oversees the department outreach program, including organizing and executing collaborative meetings, scheduling events, and following the Outreach Plan; contributes to a variety of outreach initiatives; ensures consistency and timeliness of all department outreach materials
• Ensures school education program implementation is continually maintained and enhanced, including establishing partnerships to further the reach into Maricopa County schools; oversees education outreach strategic plan
• Recommends and implements program and process improvements, participates in strategic planning and budget planning; monitors program results and objectives, and prepares and/or reviews associated operational reports; develops or updates policies and procedures in the area of responsibility
• Oversees and maintains the Air Quality website, ensures webpages are accurate and frequently updated by leading the quarterly website review process; assists in planning new digital communication initiatives
• Establishes and maintains successful working relationships with  stakeholders and local organizations; seeks opportunities for collaboration

Working Conditions

The employee in this position typically works in an office or administrative environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. The employee must be able to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or negligible amounts constantly. The position requires walking and/or standing to a significant degree.

The employee in this position is required to use a County-provided laptop, cell phone, and a County vehicle to travel within Maricopa County for work purposes. Operating a County vehicle requires a valid driver’s license and attendance in Maricopa County’s Defensive Driving Course. The employee may be required to wear safety footwear, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, a high-visibility vest, and safety gloves. These items will be provided by the department.
