Job Summary:

The Garage Manager works alongside the Chief Mechanic and leads seasonal mechanics in the safe, efficient day-to-day operation of the garage. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on the fleet of historic Red Buses and other company vehicles while helping ensure maintenance work is completed safely and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on the historic Red Bus fleet and company vehicles, with a focus on safety, reliability, and cost control.
• Supervise seasonal mechanics and coordinate daily garage operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and delegate or perform repairs to ensure fleet safety, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Manage parts inventory, purchase orders, and vendor relationships to ensure necessary tools, equipment, and materials are available.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, labor tracking, and material usage within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards, DOT regulations, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with departments across the operation to provide vehicle support and transportation-related maintenance services.
• Stay current on vehicle repair technologies, maintenance procedures, and industry standards while performing other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, or fleet vehicles.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial fleet maintenance practices. 
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.  
• Proven leadership, communication, and team management abilities. 
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines. 
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other computer applications. 
• ASE certification preferred. 
• Valid driver's license required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age. 

Work Environment:

• Garage environment with minimal office duties/responsibilities in an office environment. You may be exposed to loud noises, extreme heat or cold minimally throughout the year.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• Oversight of seasonal mechanics.​ 

Physical Requirements include:

• Ability to perform the physical demands of a hands-on fleet maintenance environment, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined spaces. 
• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull vehicle parts, tools, and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.  
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions.  
• Ability to safely operate maintenance tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
