FULL COMPENSATION RANGE: $20.7024 - $30.0203 HOURLY

- Performs maintenance and repairs on HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, lighting, building interiors/exteriors, and other assigned systems.
- Completes electrical tasks including replacing lights, ballasts, electrical infrastructure, and installing basic security devices.
- Completes plumbing tasks including replacing flush valve kits, faucets and clearing drains/commodes.
- Performs basic HVAC tasks such as replacing filters, replacing belts, cleaning condensers, troubleshooting equipment and performing pump repairs.
- Reads and interprets building, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing layouts, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Conducts routine preventive maintenance inspections to identify safety hazards, performance issues, and repair needs.
- Assists departments by delivering supplies/furniture, assembling workstations, installing electrical and computer lines, setting up meeting/event spaces, and providing other operational support.
- Provides support to external contractors and vendors as needed.
- Responds promptly and effectively to maintenance requests, emergency repairs, and facility issues to minimize disruptions to City operations.
- Adapts to shifting priorities, schedules, and emergent facility needs while maintaining high-quality workmanship and customer service.
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of facility maintenance experience
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
HVAC/Refrigeration certification preferred.
For Event Center positions: Basic Ammonia Refrigeration Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance practices.
- Basic carpentry skills and familiarity with reading technical layouts.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of safety practices, hazard recognition, and proper use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to work on a laptop, iPad, cellphone, or pc workstation.
- Use of Outlook, Excel, CMMS, EMS/BMS and other PC based applications.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Standard office buildings, shop, warehouse, and recreation center.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
Ability to attend meetings outside of regular business hours.
Ability to use hand and power tools.
Ability to push, pull, reach, lift, carry, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, and climb.
Ability to operate a city or personal vehicle for business purposes.
Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, wet conditions, and high humidity.
Ability to lift 20–50 lbs occasionally, 10–25 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs continuously.
Ability to work around mechanical, chemical, electrical, and fire hazards.
