What you'll do...
Role summary:The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex HVAC/R systems across commercial and industrial settings. This role ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards while managing preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and longevity. The position involves mentoring team members, coordinating service activities, and supporting critical business needs through timely issue resolution. The Senior Technician collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance operational processes and drives continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies and implementing effective solutions.
About the team:
This team services 11 Walmart locations between Albany and Eugene. Looking for an experienced HVAC/R Technician with 5-10+ years commercial refrigeration experience. Glycol/CO2 experience is a plus! The chosen candidate will be assigned 2-3 stores and will be responsible for maintaining all HVAC/R assets within those stores. As a Senior Tech you should be willing to provide guidance and training on occasion to newer technicians.
What you'll do:
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues to ensure optimal system performance.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
- Manage refrigerant handling, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R codes.
- Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating skill development.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, maintenance logs, and compliance records.
- Support on-call rotations to address urgent service needs promptly.
- Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service scheduling to meet business priorities.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and control panels.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial environments.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician performance.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Effective coordination of service calls, parts inventory management, and vendor relationships to meet operational priorities.
- Ability to manage on-call responsibilities and respond promptly to critical service needs.
- Skilled in documenting work orders, maintenance logs, and submitting accurate reports.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
