Summary

The Workforce Reporting & Analytics Analyst serves as the subject matter expert for Workday’s reporting, workforce analytics, and data-driven decision support through development and delivery of advanced reporting and analytic solutions. This role partners with HR, ITS, Finance, and other stakeholders to translate complex reporting requirements into accurate, efficient, and consumable insights. 
The analyst owns the end-to-end reporting lifecycle, including requirements gathering, data modeling, report development, validation, governance, performance optimization, and stakeholder enablement. Leveraging advanced Workday reporting capabilities, dashboards, and analytics tools, this role supports strategic workforce planning, operational excellence, compliance, and executive decision-making.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification, Registration & Licensure

Workday and/or other certifications strongly preferred. 

Senior Professional Human Resources - Human Resource Certification Institute a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on Workday reporting experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting Human Resources functions including Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Talent Management, Payroll, or Workforce Planning.

  • Experience designing and developing Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and Dashboard reports within Workday.

  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders to deliver reporting and analytics solutions.

  • Strong ability to analyze large datasets, draw conclusions, and create compelling data storytelling for leadership. (High proficiency)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced expertise in Workday reporting and analytics, including, but not limited to: Workday Report Writer, Composite and Matrix Reports, Calculated Fields, dashboards, discovery boards, and other Workday functionality with the ability to design scalable and high-performance reporting solutions.

  • Deep understanding of Workday data structures and relationships across major functional domains including HCM, Finance, and Payroll, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into accurate data models and reporting solutions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with demonstrated ability to interpret large data sets, identify trends and data anomalies, and deliver actionable insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.

  • Ability to design and maintain complex calculated fields and advanced report logic, including conditional calculations, data transformations, and cross-object reporting structures.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise data governance and reporting best practices, including data quality validation, security considerations, report optimization, and documentation standards.

  • Ability to partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather reporting requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions that support operational, compliance, and executive reporting needs.

  • Ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including the development of executive-ready dashboards, visualizations, and summary insights.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple reporting initiatives simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, ITS, and others to deliver integrated reporting solutions.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional stakeholder management, critical thinking, and the ability to explain technical insights to non-technical leaders.

Responsibilities

Workday Reporting & Analytics

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain advanced reporting and analytics solutions within Workday.

  • Build and optimize Advanced, Matrix, Composite, Trending, and Dashboard reports to support operational and strategic business needs.

  • Develop and maintain complex calculated fields, data transformations, and reporting logic to ensure scalable and reusable reporting solutions.

  • Create executive dashboards, scorecards, and KPI frameworks that provide meaningful workforce insights.

  • Support the development and maintenance of Discovery Boards, Dashboards, Worksheets, and other Workday analytics tools.

Business Partnership & Consultation

  • Partner with HR, Finance, ITS, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business questions into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.

  • Consult with leaders to identify opportunities for workforce insights, operational efficiencies, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Recommend innovative reporting approaches and analytics capabilities that align with organizational goals and evolving business needs.

  • Communicate complex data findings and trends to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Governance & Quality

  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, security, and compliance across Workday reporting environments.

  • Establish and maintain reporting governance standards, documentation, and best practices.

  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, auditing, and quality assurance activities during system releases, configuration changes, and data conversions.

  • Support compliance reporting and audit requests through accurate and timely data delivery.

System Optimization & Support

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Workday report performance.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolution of reporting issues and data discrepancies.

  • Evaluate and implement new Workday reporting capabilities and enhancements introduced through Workday releases.

  • Collaborate with HRIS and technical teams to support integrations, business process changes, and system enhancements impacting reporting.

Workforce Analytics & Insights

  • Analyze workforce data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations.

  • Develop workforce metrics and analytics that support talent acquisition, retention, compensation, workforce planning, diversity initiatives, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Deliver executive-level reporting and data storytelling that supports strategic planning and business performance objectives.

  • Design, build, and maintain advanced Workday reporting and analytics solutions.

  • Develop and optimize complex Workday report logic and calculated fields to ensure scalable, accurate, and reusable reporting solutions.

  • Partner with HR, Finance, ITS, and leadership stakeholders to translate business questions into scalable reporting solutions.

  • Ensure reporting accuracy, integrity, performance, and usability across Workday tenants.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex reporting including root-cause analysis and optimization.

  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and audit support during data loads, releases, and configuration changes.

  • Monitor and optimize report performance and stay current on Workday reporting enhancements and upcoming releases.
