Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and business-oriented actuary to support the pricing, modeling, and portfolio management of our Credit Insurance programs. This role will be responsible for developing actuarial models, analyzing portfolio performance, recommending pricing strategies, and partnering with underwriting, finance, claims, and business leaders to drive profitable growth.
The ideal candidate combines strong actuarial fundamentals with advanced modeling expertise and experience working with consumer lending, credit insurance, collateral protection products, GAP, payment protection, or other credit-related insurance products.
The ideal candidate will be located near Atlanta, GA or Austin, TX. Other locations will be considered.
Responsibilities
Pricing & Profitability Analysis
- Develop and maintain pricing models for credit insurance and related products.
- Analyze claim frequency, severity, loss ratios, and profitability trends.
- Perform rate adequacy studies and recommend pricing actions.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging trends and risks.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning initiatives.
Predictive Modeling & Analytics
- Build, validate, and maintain predictive models using actuarial and statistical techniques.
- Utilize borrower, loan, collateral, and credit attributes to improve risk segmentation.
- Evaluate model performance and recommend enhancements.
- Partner with data science and technology teams on model implementation and governance.
- Document methodologies and ensure compliance with actuarial standards and model governance requirements.
Portfolio & Risk Management
- Evaluate underwriting strategies and portfolio risk characteristics.
- Perform scenario testing and stress testing to assess potential changes in economic conditions and credit performance.
- Analyze impacts of shifts in credit quality, loan-to-value ratios, delinquency trends, and macroeconomic conditions.
- Support reserve adequacy reviews and business performance assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- ACAS or FCAS designation or substantial progress toward credentialing.
- 5+ years of actuarial, pricing, or predictive modeling experience.
- Experience with statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and machine learning concepts.
- Strong data exploration and manipulation skills, ideally in SAS, SQL, R, or Python.
- Proficiency with Power BI is preferred.
- Experience with Credit Insurance is preferred.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
