Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of a professional nurse, the Perioperative Aide complements the nursing staff by assuming and assisting with various tasks. He/she is assigned only activities for which he/she has been adequately trained.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Performs all duties competently maintaining a safe and clean environment. Demonstrates knowledge of basic principles of Infection Control and prevention and handles sterile supplies and instruments according to these guidelines and principles.
2. Cleans and reports equipment that is out of order to the charge nurse.
3. Managing the ordering and par level of the OR inventory working with the business/materials supervisor.
4. Always reports to charge nurse any observations, patient complaints, and other pertinent information regarding the condition of patients as needed.
5. Help with putting supplies away after cases and after supply delivery.
6. Demonstrates knowledge of basic principles of Infection Control and prevention.
7. Pulls all cases for the schedule daily. Assures that all the equipment, instruments and materials are outside the OR suite for the 'next case' 15 minutes prior to the case breaking.
8. Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse will answer OR desk telephones, transfer calls or take messages.
9. Understands the principles of positioning and applies those principles to safeguard patients when lifting and turning patients.
10. Understands and practices the principles of proper body mechanics for personal safety.

Required Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. H.S. Diploma/GED requirement may be waived with equivalent in related prior work experience.
3. 0-1 years related work experience required.
4. Capable of following directions.
5. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous experience.
2. Knowledge of aseptic technique.

8. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Age based Competencies:
Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Neonatal:Birth to 6 months, Youth: 6 months to 16 years, Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -.
Physical Nature of the Job:
Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently. Work is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing and/or moving.

 

 

Pay Range:

$20.00 - $27.59

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
