As a Fire Protection Designer II in our Chapel Hill office, you’ll join a collaborative community where your expertise fuels innovation, your ideas drive progress, and your work helps shape a brighter future for all.
Why We Need You:
In this role, you must have prior experience in design and layout of fire suppression systems. A strong understanding of NFPA codes and standards along with applicable building and fire codes is preferred. Your assignments will include performing calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and preparing shop drawings. In this role, you must be confident in designing fire suppression system with little supervision, create details and notes for construction documents, modify and understand specifications for fire suppression systems, and be proficient in researching and resolving building and fire related code and standard questions.
Expertise of our most successful Fire Protection Designer II:
- Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design from an accredited technical institution or college; or commensurate experience.
- General knowledge in fire suppression systems.
- Proficient in the current version of AutoCAD and/or REVIT. Ability to learn how to use engineering design programs.
- Ability to interpret design criteria and convert it into specific layouts.
- NICET Level I or II certified.
