## What you’ll do:
This role is responsible for the engineering execution of research and development programs for Eaton’s Data Center portfolio. The incumbent will contribute to the Energy & Cooling technology roadmap and developing high-performance solutions for next-generation data centers. As a member of a multidisciplinary engineering team, the Mechanical Design Engineer will apply mechanical and thermal engineering principles to support innovative solutions for the semiconductor industry. The position is responsible for completing defined mechanical design, development, testing, documentation, and manufacturing-process implementation activities.
"Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) is looking for Engineer – Data Center (Mechanical & Thermal) to support thermal research and the development of advanced cooling and thermal-management technologies. This position is based at our office in Magarpatta City, Pune.
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will contribute to mechanical and thermal engineering assignments and works with cross-functional teams to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Perform engineering calculations related to heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid flow, pressure drop, and mechanical design
- Support laboratory setup, instrumentation, testing, data collection, analysis, and documentation
- Assist with prototype builds, product qualification, design verification, and resolution of clearly defined technical issues
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, root-cause investigations, and corrective-action activities
- Prepare engineering reports, test plans, specifications, and drawing-release documentation using the product data management system
- Support material and manufacturing-process selection for machined, sheet-metal, molded, and assembled components
- Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, suppliers, laboratory, electrical, controls, and safety teams
- Contribute to projects involving cooling distribution units, rear-door heat exchangers, manifolds, hot-aisle containment systems, chillers, and facility-water-system interfaces
- Follow engineering standards, safety practices, quality processes, and project schedules
- Build technical capability through coaching, training, and hands-on project assignments
Experience / Qualifications:
- Good understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, pressure drop, and thermal-system operation.
- Familiarity with data center cooling architectures and equipment such as cooling distribution units, rear-door heat exchangers, manifolds, chillers, and facility-water system is preffered.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, test data, product specifications, and technical standards.
- Hands on experience on any CAD software, parametric modeling, drawing detailing & assembly build up is desirable.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management or document-management platforms such as ENOVIA, SAP, or SharePoint is derisrable.
- Concept building & Design thinking, collaboration with cross-functional teams."
