Description

This role is a valuable part of our Genentech Oceanside team, which is committed to maintaining seamless supply chain execution, high-quality warehousing operations, and cGMP compliance to ensure the delivery of vital therapies to patients. As a key member of this team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders across Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Strategic Supply Planning. In this position, you will drive operational excellence, champion lean leadership, and shape strategic materials management across both site and network operations.

The Opportunity

Leadership & People Management:

  • Strategic Leadership & Financial Accountability: Establish strategic goals and maintain full operational and financial responsibility (budget) for the Warehouse organization.
  • Team Leadership & Culture: Build an inclusive, highly motivated, and agile workforce across onsite and remote teams—fostering high team spirit, effective communication, urgency, and long-term goal achievement.
  • Site & Network Collaboration: Serve as an active change agent on the extended site leadership team, driving cross-functional planning, decision-making, and collaboration across local site and broader network activities.

Technical & Functional:

  • External Partnerships & Network Governance: Serve as the primary interface for 3PLs, landlords, Procurement (SRM feedback), and outsourced manufacturing partners—managing execution (goods receipt, outbound deliveries, inventory transactions) and coordinating direct material QC testing to ensure GMP compliance.
  • Planning, Analytics & Quality Compliance: Monitor and report warehouse capacity, capability, inventory accuracy, and health metrics (KPIs, PHIs, OTIF delivery) in partnership with Strategic/Supply Planning, while ensuring strict adherence to cGMPs, regulatory standards, and warehousing policies.
  • Network Integration, Leadership & Escalation: Act as a Business Process Manager (MLD BPM) and Business Process Expert (BPE) on the network Warehouse Council, leading local/global projects and serving as the key PT escalation point for purchased or transferred material issues.

Site Specific:

  • Inventory & Multi-Site Material Governance: Direct inventory management, stocking strategies, and substore operations for MRO spare parts, cell banking, and site materials across global and regional networks (OCN, HTO, RSTO, SSF, PZ).
  • Quality Release & Technical Support: Oversee direct material release inputs (CoA documentation, sampling instructions, Raman testing) to ensure strictly compliant delivery to Quality within established SLAs, while supporting CMO execution (RSTO) and MES Master Data accuracy (MH).
  • Cross-Site & Regional Hub Leadership: Serve as the strategic Network Hub for North American sites (OCN, SSF) and the local PT Hub interface (Basel-SM) to streamline communication, alignment, and network-wide standard practices.
  • External Partner & Facility Management: Direct key management interfaces with service providers and landlords (Basel-Bio, PZ) to ensure full operational support for warehousing and facility infrastructure.
