Compensation: $100k - $115k annually

Responsibilities
Job Summary
The District Sales Manager role is responsible for building market position by identifying, developing, negotiating, and closing new business along with defending and maintaining current business relationships.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The incumbent, under general supervision:
- Maintain and defend current business sales, margin and volume
- Generate an effective sales pipeline from lead/prospect generation through opportunity close
- Voice of Customer – Product performance reports as per customer and MINTEQ requirements
- Monitor competitive intelligence and develop strategies to attain market share growth and defend
- Provide leadership and manage field trials of new and experimental products or projects. Obtains, plans, coordinates and supervises new product trials and growth opportunities within new and existing accounts. Design/Execute follow up systems for trial products and report results to the customer and MINTEQ managers with clear understanding of value generation for MINTEQ and customer. Coordinate equipment and manpower as required.
- Provides weekly & monthly sales forecast / plan to management & finance:
- Generate monthly forecast
- Weekly commentary of actual sales versus forecast
- Generate annual sales plan
- Gain comprehensive understanding of complete product portfolio:
- refractory, wire, equipment, laser measurement
- Promotes new product offerings and substitutions to improve margins and/or improve performance
- Responsible for sales revenue, sales margin, and material volume for respective accounts
- Identifies and compiles proposals with current and/or new partners / customers
- Develops close working relationships and full understanding of requirements with internal customer base (ie. MINTEQ departments: manufacturing, SMS field service, customer service, R&D, QC, finance & accounting, accounts receivable)
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations; attending trade exhibitions/workshops
- Demonstrates the MTI Values and Transformational Rules for Leaders, as well as the Key Initiative areas of Safety/EHS, Operational Excellence, Expense Reduction and Technology & Innovation

Qualifications

Knowledge:
A bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, business or related technical field or a minimum of five years' experience in refractory sales or industrial manufacturing (preferably steelmaking). Prior experience supervising a work group. Significant knowledge and experience in sales, marketing, customer service, and strong business acumen.
Skills & Abilities:
Demontration of good leadership, account management, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment and understand different roles depending on the function of the team. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, English speaking, closing skills, motivation for sales, prospecting skills, sales planning, selling to customer needs, market knowledge, presentation skills, energy level, "can do" attitude, meeting sales goals, professionalism.

Working Conditions:
Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of standing, walking, climbing steps, sitting, extremes of heat and cold, as well as being in a dusty, dirty industrial environment. Must be able to gather, organize, and analyze data, draw conclusions, and handle stress. Must wear safety equipment where required.
General: Travel required as needed. Travel requirements for this position are estimated to be 40% - 50%.
