Responsibilities & Qualifications
The Novelis Corporate team is seeking a Commercial Strategy Lead to join our team. This role supports the development and execution of Novelis’ global commercial growth strategy by analyzing markets, customers, competitors, and business performance. The Commercial Strategy Lead will collaborate across regions and functions to translate complex information into clear insights that guide commercial priorities, strategic planning, and business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze market, customer, competitor, regulatory, sustainability, and macroeconomic trends that may affect Novelis and its served markets.
- Monitor developments across automotive, beverage packaging, and specialty markets, including demand drivers, customer activity, aluminum applications, and competing materials.
- Develop market outlooks, demand forecasts, scenario models, dashboards, performance reports, and targeted analyses to support commercial and strategic decisions.
- Evaluate customer, product, portfolio, pricing, profitability, segmentation, and growth opportunities using quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Support the strategic planning process through data collection, market assessments, forecasting, documentation of assumptions, and development of recommendations.
- Prepare business cases and market assessments that clarify opportunities, risks, trade-offs, and potential paths forward.
- Partner with regional and functional teams to validate assumptions, reconcile inputs, and align market insights with supply-and-demand outlooks.
- Track commercial initiatives, project deliverables, risks, and key measures of progress.
- Develop executive-ready presentations, reports, dashboards, and briefing materials.
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sustainability, Research and Development, Product Management, Corporate Strategy, and regional teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, statistics, data analytics, or a related field.
- Four to seven years of experience in strategy, analytics, consulting, finance, market intelligence, commercial excellence, or a related analytical field.
- Experience structuring complex business questions, integrating quantitative and qualitative information, and developing fact-based recommendations.
- Ability to connect market trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and internal capabilities to develop actionable commercial insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Effective written, verbal, presentation, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across functions and regions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn new industries, markets, and business topics and apply that knowledge to practical recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Business Administration, master’s degree, or another relevant advanced degree.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or comparable analytics platforms.
- Experience supporting strategic planning, commercial transformation, market assessment, forecasting, or portfolio analysis.
- Experience in aluminum, metals, packaging, automotive, industrial manufacturing, or another capital-intensive industry.
- Experience preparing and presenting analyses for leadership audiences.
- Experience working within a global or multi-regional organization.
