Internal Communications Intern

As our Internal Communications Intern, you’ll assist with managing internal communications and maintaining our SharePoint platforms. You’ll play a key role in distributing company emails, updating SharePoint sites, and tracking communication metrics. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, creative, and eager to make an impact in a fast paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Distribute emails to new employees weekly 

• Assist in the creation of our weekly company-wide email 

• Track and report on weekly email statistics 

• Manage completion dates on a SharePoint page tracker 

• Collaborate with various departments to create and update SharePoint content 

• Monitor and report SharePoint statistics weekly 

• Write and review news posts for our Regional SharePoint site and department specific sites as needed 

• Create engaging and informative graphics to display on company TVs  

• Assist with other internal communications or HR initiatives as needed 

EDUCATION:  

• Must currently be working towards a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field 

 

EXPERIENCE:  

• Previous internships or work experience in communications, marketing, or a related role is preferred 

• Experience with internal communication platforms and tools is a plus 

 

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:  

Required Skills:  

• Strong attention to detail and consistency in writing style 

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines 

• Creative problem solving skills and innovative thinking 

• Ability to develop innovative content to present information in an engaging way 

• Capability to track and analyze communication metrics and assess the effectiveness of communication strategies to make data driven improvements 

• Strong collaboration abilities to work with various departments and effective at building relationships to understand stakeholder needs  

Preferred Skills:  

• Proficiency with Canva for design and content creation 

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 products including Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. Knowledge of AP style for writing and editing 

 

REQUIREMENTS:  

• Remain stationary for extended periods 

• Ability to communicate information  

• Ability to operate a computer
