Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) division delivers industry-leading metrology solutions essential to advanced semiconductor manufacturing. Its portfolio includes systems for measuring film thickness, critical dimensions, composition, and resistivity—key to developing and scaling next-gen IC processes. FaST partners closely with customers from early R&D through high-volume production, ensuring performance and process alignment.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

We are seeking a motivated Software Engineering Intern to join our engineering team for the summer. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced software engineers to design, develop, test, and support software solutions that contribute to advanced semiconductor process control and inspection systems. This internship provides hands-on experience with real-world projects, modern development tools, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software applications and features.

• Develop and execute unit tests, automation scripts, and validation procedures.

• Analyze software defects, troubleshoot issues, and assist in implementing solutions.

• Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and quality engineers to deliver project objectives.

• Utilize development tools, source control systems, and CI/CD workflows.

• Document software designs, test results, and technical findings.

• Present project progress and results to engineering teams and management.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
• Experience with one or more programming languages such as C++, C#, Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with software development tools such as Git, Visual Studio, VS Code, or similar IDEs.
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies and automation frameworks.
• Exposure to AI/ML, computer vision, image processing, or data analytics.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices.

Total Rewards

Base Pay Range: $37.00 - $49.00 per hour based on pursuit of a Bachelors and Masters Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA
