Description
The Cash Management and Investment Operations Manager leads Manulife Entities’ (MP/MCBL/MFP) day-to-day cash management and investment operations, including liquidity planning, transaction settlement, accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and controls.
Position Responsibilities:
- Cash Management and Liquidity
- Monitor daily cash positions and maintain reliable short- and medium-term cash forecasts.
- Coordinate funding, cash allocation, liquidity requirements, and cash optimization with local and Regional Treasury teams.
- Oversee disbursement activities for vendors, policyholder’s benefit payments and other AP processes (employees, regulators, others)
- Escalate material cash movements, forecast variances, liquidity issues, and funding gaps.
- Investment Operations
- Coordinate investment instructions, funding, trade processing, settlement, and documentation with MIMTC, fund managers, custodians, trustees, and banks.
- Supports onboarding of new Funds (General and VUL), including participation in User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Track pending transactions and resolve settlement or account-related issues promptly.
- Investment Accounting and Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely investment accounting, reconciliations, period-end schedules, and management or regulatory reporting.
- Investigate and resolve differences across bank, custodian, investment, and general ledger records.
- Controls and Stakeholder Management
- Maintain compliance with policies, delegated authorities, accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Serve as Manulife entities’ (MP/MCBL/MFP) primary operational bridge with MIMTC and provide clear updates to management and key stakeholders.
- Support audits and drive process, control, and Finance Elevate improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or a related field; CPA preferred. CFA, treasury, or investment operations certification is an advantage.
- At least five years of relevant experience in cash management, treasury, investment operations, investment accounting, custody, or financial reporting. Insurance or financial services experience is preferred.
- Good knowledge of cash forecasting, liquidity, investment trade lifecycle, investment accounting, reconciliations, IFRS/PFRS, and internal controls.
- Strong analytical, communication, coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills, with a high level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Excel and financial systems; able to manage competing deadlines and urgent liquidity or settlement matters.
