Description
Are you tech-savvy and enjoy working in a fast-paced sports environment? The City of Hampton Aquaplex is seeking a Timing System Operator / Event Administrator to manage event data and install, test, troubleshoot, and operate timing systems, scoreboards, and related equipment during competitive swimming, diving, and water polo events. This is a great opportunity to support high-quality aquatic competitions while working hands-on with event technology
The purpose of this class is to manage all event data and install, test, troubleshoot, and operate the timing system, scoreboard, and associated equipment during competitive swimming, diving, and water polo events at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex.
Minimum Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience in swim meet management and operation in a large competition venue.
- Thorough knowledge of Colorado Timing System equipment operation and software. (Generation 6 required. Generation 7 preferred.)
- Experience with swim and dive meet management software required. (Hytek preferred.)
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Must possess good eyesight and hearing.
- Requires shift work to include weekends and holidays.
- Requires working weekends and beyond a 8-hour workdays.
- May require working early mornings or late nights.
- Requires long periods of sitting.
- Requires working in a potentially loud and/or humid indoor pool environment.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules
