Description
The Radiation Therapist follows treatment plans and radiation practices and standards; positions patients for treatment; administers prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment to minimize the risk of damage to organs at risk. This position, also, educates, prepares, and reassures patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance, and reinforcing physicians' advice regarding treatment reactions or post-treatment care.

- Radiation Therapy Follows treatment plan and radiation practices and standards; positions patients for treatment; administers prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment, to minimize the risk of damage to organs at risk.
- Patient Simulation Perform patient simulation using imaging devices for use in treatment planning.
- Radiation Protection Procedure Follows principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others.
- Patient Medical Record Documentation Maintain patient records, reports, or files as required in the electronic medical record to ensure all medical personnel has accurate treatment plan data.
- Quality Assurance Conducts quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure standard of care is met.
- Student Technologist Training Provides training and supervision to student technologists.
- Patient Scheduling Schedules patient treatment times to ensure adequate time between treatments, and that specified plan is followed.
- Radiation Safety Follows principles of radiation safety for patient, self, and others under the direction of the Radiation Safety Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required within 90 days of hire Registered Radiation Therapist (ARRT-RTT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Required within 90 days of hire State License
- Required within 90 days of hire Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree Radiation Therapy
