Position Overview

 

The Advising Coordinator & Graduate Instruction serves a dual role supporting student success through academic advising and graduate-level instruction. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Advising and Credentialing, this position provides direct academic advising to assigned students, serves as a Core Advisor to support and guide Academic Advisors, and contributes to the development and continuous improvement of advising practices within the Institute for Applied Behavioral Science.

 

In addition, the position provides graduate-level instruction and thesis support within the MS program. The individual will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Research and Thesis Coordinator to support students throughout the thesis process, including providing additional academic support, assisting with thesis-related activities, and participating in thesis defenses as needed.

 

The position includes an instructional in-load of five thesis course sections and requires strong knowledge of applied behavior analysis, graduate education, academic advising, research, and thesis development.

Key Responsibilities


Academic Advising and Advising Coordination (50%)

·         Serve as an Academic Advisor and maintain regular communication with assigned advisees regarding academic progress, program requirements, performance, and overall student success.

·         Conduct an annual, in-depth synchronous advising and evaluation meeting with each assigned advisee, along with multiple points of contact throughout each semester, including synchronous meetings as appropriate.

·         Serve as a Core Advisor by providing guidance, support, information, and professional expertise to a designated group of Academic Advisors.

·         Provide consultation and support to Academic Advisors regarding student needs, academic planning, advising practices, and program requirements.

·         Attend annual academic planning meetings for students assigned to Academic Advisors within the Core Advisor structure.

·         Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Advising and Credentialing to develop resources, tools, and support structures that strengthen the advising experience.

·         Assist with the onboarding and training of new Academic Advisors.

·         Contribute to the assessment and continuous improvement of advising practices and the overall student advising experience.

·         Identify student concerns and, when appropriate, connect students with relevant institutional resources and support services.

·         Maintain accurate and timely advising records and documentation.

·         Collaborate with faculty, staff, and academic leadership to promote student progression, engagement, and success.

 

Graduate Instruction and Thesis Support (50%)

·         Teach an instructional in-load of five thesis course sections within the MS program.

·         Provide graduate-level instruction, mentoring, and academic support to students enrolled in thesis courses.

·         Support students across the three thesis course experiences, including providing additional guidance to students who require assistance progressing through their thesis work.

·         Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Research and Thesis Coordinator on thesis-related activities, student support, and program needs.

·         Assist with thesis defense preparation and participate in thesis defense coverage as needed.

·         Provide feedback and guidance to students regarding thesis development, research methodology, literature reviews, academic writing, and related research activities.

·         Support students in applying principles of applied behavior analysis and research methodology to their thesis projects.

·         Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to promote high-quality graduate instruction and successful completion of thesis requirements.

·         Maintain appropriate instructional records and fulfill all responsibilities associated with assigned graduate courses.

·         Other duties as assigned

 

Community Engagement

·         Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events like Commencement, Homecoming, and other all-hands-on-deck gatherings. Show a spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible.

Qualifications and Skills

·         PhD in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or a closely related field, as appropriate to the program requirements.

·         Active Board-Certified Behavior Analyst–Doctoral (BCBA-D) certification.

·         Professional experience in academic advising and graduate-level instruction in higher education.

·         Demonstrated experience conducting systematic literature reviews.

·         Demonstrated experience with experimental research methodology in applied behavior analysis.

·         Strong knowledge of applied behavior analysis principles, research methodology, and graduate-level academic expectations.

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·         Demonstrated ability to advise, mentor, and support graduate students effectively.

·         Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.

·         Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and academic leadership.

·         Demonstrated commitment to student success, academic quality, and continuous improvement.

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience advising graduate students in an ABA or related graduate program.

·         Experience teaching graduate-level thesis or research courses.

·         Experience mentoring students through the thesis or culminating research project process.

·         Experience participating in thesis defenses or graduate research evaluation.

·         Experience supporting or training academic advisors.

 

In compliance with Massachusetts pay transparency law, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000–$74,000. Endicott College considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, relevant work experience, education, specialized skills, internal equity, and external market data when extending an offer. The final salary is determined by the Human Resources Office based on these factors. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or other compensation.
