Purpose: This role serves as the central owner of the Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety (PSTS) function's outsourcing operating model, translating PSTS outsourcing strategies into consistent execution, governance, and performance management across the organization. The position is accountable for establishing a unified approach to vendor management, financial oversight, capacity planning, and operational excellence at the PSTS level, ensuring external partnerships deliver against business objectives. While PSTS functional teams retain accountability for defining, assessing, and advancing the scientific and technical capabilities of external partners, this role provides the cross-functional governance, and operational discipline required to maximize the value, scalability, and reliability of PSTS's outsourced portfolio.


You will be responsible for:


  • Operationalising PSTS outsourcing strategy through day to day vendor governance, performance monitoring, and issue escalation.
  • Ensuring external partners deliver against quality, timeline, capacity, and cost expectations.
  • Supporting make vs buy and capacity decisions with data, scenarios, and execution insights.
  • Acting as a trusted execution partner to PSTS functional leaders and governance forums.
  • Managing PSTS outsourcing budget execution, forecasting, and variance tracking.
  • Monitoring external resource utilization and capacity alignment with approved portfolio demand.
  • Supporting financial discipline and transparency across PSTS external delivery.
  • Implementing and improving PSTS outsourcing management processes.
  • Driving targeted improvements to reduce cycle time, execution friction, and rework.
  • Establishing and tracking execution metrics for delivery reliability and efficiency

Qualifications / Requirements:


  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in business or a relevant scientific discipline (Biology, Biotechnology. etc) is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in pharmaceutical industry in a relevant operations role is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the pharmaceutical drug discovery process is required.
  • Experience in (Business) operations, project management and finance (OPEX/CAPEX and resource budget planning) is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of budgeting, procurement standards, business operations, applications supporting procurement, legal contracts, budget and resource planning tools, and communication platforms is required.
  • Proven track-record and breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence people at all levels and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of large complex, international and cross-functional teams, to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact, is required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including poise and maturity to gain credibility with senior leaders is required.
  • Excellent organizational agility with a proven track record to plan, implement, manage and drive change across diverse teams, scale initiatives and achieve results at global level is required.
  • Possess a sense of curiosity, passion, and a willingness to drive in to get the job done quickly and effectively is required.
  • High level of organizational ability and attention to detail and troubleshooting skills is required.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to function independently in a fluid environment under tight timelines is required.
  • Exceptional diplomacy and negotiating skills are required for both internal and external purposes is required.
  • Approximately 30% domestic and international is required.
