Weiser Memorial Hospital--rated as one of Idaho's best places to work--is looking to hire a HIM Supervisor to join our team. 


The HIM Supervisor coordinates and monitors the daily activities of Health Information Management personnel. The position is responsible for ensuring health informatics processes comply with all internal medical-administrative policies, ethical standards, and state and federal legal requirements—including HIPAA regulations. Acting as a liaison between department staff, clinical personnel, and data technicians, the supervisor reviews daily work queues, maintains data workflow metrics, and steps in assisting the department director with budget planning, staff recruitment, and policy enforcement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sets,  oversees, adjusts, and ensures daily production of work is completed in a      timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor and drive adherence to meet performance of department metrics while managing staff to performance expectations this includes ongoing feedback,      as well as coaching and counseling.
  • Demonstrates financial acumen regarding metrics and sets specific goals, standards, and objectives for intra departmental processes collaboratively with leadership and other areas.
  • Manages staff performance to include but not limited to hiring, training,      assigning work, evaluating performance, conducting professional development plans.
  • Continuously optimizes workflow and proactively identifies, communicates, and prioritizes opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provides oversight to ensure compliance with established laws, regulations,      practices, and procedures.
  • Ensures that both the team and one self-remain knowledgeable about and compliant with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Champions employee engagement, collaboration, and investment, fostering a positive culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Promotes a pathway for innovation to achieve top-tier performance within the Health Information Management Department.
  • Demonstrates ability to show and provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Consistent demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power-Point, Visio, Teams, SharePoint, our EMR and Outlook.
  • Performance improvement, project management, and innovative thinking.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical record documentation requirements, and managing health data.
  • Knowledge of documentation practices and document usage and workflow on clinical units.
  • Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking and conflict management skills.
  • Computer and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Requirements

  

• A.A./A.S. in Business, Health Information Management, or related area or 5 years of experience within an applicable Revenue Cycle Department may substitute for associate degree.


Preferred Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. Health Information Management, Business Administration, or related area

• 5 years in health information management with similar duties and progressive responsibilities.

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIT)
